Beside Me

Where millions live in the smoky, crowded heart of the metropolis, the immutable clockwork progression of life never ceases. Where a Sunday is the longest vacation one is ever likely to get, one treats stolen moments of peace like a shameful pleasure. Where one is chained to the hamster wheel, happiness can only be vicariously experienced through the vacuous superficiality of a TV screen. Where the single minded drive for economic ascendancy and material gain is all consuming, a kernel of existential restlessness and angst sometimes finds a forgotten corner of a human mind to take root.
Do you remember the first time you smelled a pine forest? Do you remember the first taste of water from the mountain stream that runs through it? Do you remember the rainbow it creates as it falls over a cliff? Our primal connection to the pristine grandeur of the natural world can be silenced. But it always bursts back into life, and reminds us of our need for something even more fundamental – hope itself.
‘Summit’ is a musical distillation of that magical moment of transcendence that one experiences close to the end of a journey, when one sees one’s destination for the first time, and feels the rush of every emotion that it represents. It is the experience of escaping the prison that is the modern urban conglomeration, and experiencing the untouched natural beauty of the mountains.

My Experimentation with the slide guitar. I have combined melodic elements from Indian Classical Vocabulary with Rock/Metal backing.

Bhairav

My experimentation with the slide guitar. I have combined the more sublime melodic elements from Indian Classical Vocabulary with the heavier Rock/Metal elements. The melody is my improvised version of an existing hymn that is offered to Lord Ganesh.

Vakratunda Mahakaya

Result of my experimentation with the slide guitar and the combination of the softer Indian Classical melody with the much harsher tones of the full on DeathCore backing arrangement.

Gang Bang - Ringtone

Siddhartho Poddar is a guitarist, composer, and producer, who is currently studying music  at the British & Irish Institute of Modern Music in Brighton. After several years on the  Bombay metal circuit, he turned to acoustic fingerstyle guitar - inspired by the likes of  Jon Gomm, Andy McKee, and Don Ross. Having been formally trained in blues, jazz and  contemporary music, his current endeavors showcase experiments with Flamenco,  Indian Classical, and Celtic Folk styles.

Hello everyone and welcome to my profile. 
My name is Siddhartho Poddar (Sid) . I study music at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music(BIMM) in the United Kingdom. Started out as a keyboard player who gradually shifted to playing the Guitar over the course of time and so my list of influences is varied and contrasting. I have a keen interest towards Instrumental music but have always been more attracted towards Metal, Alternative and more recently, solo Acoustic compositions.
I love to compose, arrange and record music and you shall find some of my works here.
