Nach einer etwas längeren Pause in unserer Podcastreihe begrüßen wir heute Xia Ke aus Shanghai. Der sympathische Producer, DJ und Labelbetreiber mit dem Hang zu organischen Klängen im deepen Downtempogewand ist uns bereits vor einiger Zeit aufgefallen. Seine Mixe bestechen durch eine große Dichte an Atmosphäre, welche durch überwiegend cineastische Übergänge erzeugt wird. Quasi ein Sound der auch gut zu unserer Reihe passt. Ein wenig angepasst hat er diesen aber trotzdem. aber hört selber und findet den Unterschied. 

Tausend Dand Xia für diese feine Reise ins Dickicht der organischen Afterhour.

After a slightly longer break in our podcast series, we welcome Xia Ke from Shanghai today. We noticed this likeable producer, DJ, and label owner with a penchant for organic sounds in deep downtempo guise some time ago. His mixes captivate with their dense atmosphere, which is created predominantly by cinematic transitions. It's a sound that fits well with our series. He has adapted it a little, though. But listen for yourself and see if you can spot the difference.

✘ What makes good "afterhour"?
Chill, moody, slightly danceable and meditateable. 

✘ Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?
It's a set prepared for our upcoming label tour. I want to illustrate a more moody downtempo soundscape to the Chinese local audiences. There are also some great productions from my label Autumn Equinox.

In the chaos of Mumbai, beneath the violent soundscapes and flickering lights everywhere, you will find the soothing sounds of Siddhesh Sardesai AKA SiddEffects, telling you a story about this place, where the city noise comes from.

Sidd, born and brought up , in the mega-metropolitan city of Mumbai, has risen in Ambient Electronic Music, charting out soul-penetrating sets,for over seven years. Blending a variety of cinematic sounds into the dreamy fields of dark melodies, his fascination with kick drum n basslines is obvious, when you hear the power packed beats, meshed up in elegantly designed atmospheric soundscapes , all present in his dj sets .

Tracing back to the origins of SiddEffects, is an equally interesting story. Sidd used to be an avid listener of Bollywood music. However, after an exposure to commercial EDM, he got mesmerised by the vibe of the Electronic Dance Music scene. "SiddEffects" then decided to pursue DJ'ING , only to later established himself as a Producer, sharing this passionate stories through the medium of Electronic Music.

In 2006, he began to learn the ins and outs of DJing and became an apprentice to a teacher, as well as a close friend who DJ'ed at house parties. He realized that DJing was the only way to express and explore himself and decided to lay the groundwork to produce his own tracks. Each of his tracks is unique with its own cinematic texture, quite often lush with sounds created and designed by himself..

Currently working as an Re-Recording Mixer & Sound Designer. It's his experience as a Sound Designer, that adds the unique refreshing feel , which can be felt in his mixtapes. " SiddEffects" believes in finding, selecting and creating ones own samples.

It's this magnificent blend of innovation and storyline arrangement that can be associated with him.
