Yeshe Tsogyal instructs us in how to develop and maintain a relationship with the guru, how to eliminate obstacles, how and where we should practice, and how we can develop bodhicitta. The prayer instils confidence in our basic purity and goodness and reinforces the inseparability of our minds from the mind of the guru.

Śāntideva’s Bodhicaryāvatāra is probably one of the most intensive, beautiful and systematic mind trainings that one can encounter. This is not just a simple message to overcome gross emotions, discursive thoughts and agitation. The text really offers us a much more profound view into the essence of the mind, why it needs to be trained, how it can be trained and ultimately, why it does not need to be trained. The way of the bodhisattva has the connotation of a warrior, whose aim is to fight the battle of ignorance, not only for oneself but for all beings who are bound by emotions, defilements and ignorance. The quintessence of the bodhisattva path is not to be in samsara but also not to aspire to nirvana. Śāntideva teaches systematically that this is achievable. We will have to understand the relationship between relative truth and ultimate truth. Immediately it sounds as if there are two truths that need to be in relationship with one another, but this is not the case. All the bodhisattva skilful means such as generosity, discipline, patience and diligence are taught by the Buddha as a way to invoke and actualise wisdom. If the wisdom is lost, all the skilful means and even the act of one-pointedness or samādhi concentration is like the blind leading the blind in a desert.

Long Life Prayer for Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche

In Buddha’s vision, there is something called mind, and this mind wants to be happy and to avoid pain. Happiness can be gained by thinking about the past and planning for the future, but we risk getting entangled in all sorts of false stories while real benefit comes from being in the present moment, focusing on what we have. In fact, nothing can make us completely happy, not material things nor values and beliefs. Buddha also views appearances as deceptive. What we see, hear and taste is just our perception and whatever we are experiencing is a projection coming from our disorderly mind. This is what Buddha calls wisdom, which must be united with compassion to create genuine benefit for our world.

Saga Dawa Heart Sutra Recitation, 4 - 5 June 2020, Global
At the request of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, this is a new choral arrangement of the Heart Sutra presented as a "virtual choir." It was sung as separate tracks by over thirty participants in ten different countries, which were then edited together to create the choral arrangement. The video was produced and edited using Zoom and broadcast across the world on Zoom, YouTube and Facebook Live for 24 hours to commemorate Saga Dawa Düchen, the day where Buddha's birth, enlightenment and parinirvana is celebrated across the world. The melody is based off of a musical setting of the "Nilakantha Dharani," a dharani associated with Avalokiteshvara in Japanese Buddhism, written by Kanho Yakushiji, a Zen priest. The translation of the Heart Sutra was done by the Nalanda Translation Committee, the video editing by Sophie Perks and the choral arrangement by Harry Einhorn. Produced and practiced with the intention of pacifying the turmoil of the world at this time, in the words of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, “May we invoke love, kindness, and healing, and open our hearts for the earth.”

During the solar eclipse of 21 June 2020 Siddhartha's Intent hosted a global recitation of the Samantabhadra Aspiration Prayer.
We were fortunate to receive a teaching from Rinpoche, who painted a picture of the mind that, for lack of a better word, "composed" a prayer which has no composer: our naked cognisance, our naked awareness. The Kuntuzangpo prayer is just there; it's being recited and answered all the time. When a beautiful sunrise appears, if the owl doesn't see it because it's blind, too bad! If we can't see these prayers that are being answered, we're like an owl. There's not much we can do, just pray not to be an owl, which is what we do when we recite the prayer.
