Don’t Let The Embers Go Out

Once upon a time, I returned from Glastonbury festival and wrote a song. It was about my personal circumstances at the time: I was feeling lost and without direction. My hope was that I would eventually find myself and find a purpose.

A High Place

An experimental song, and unless it makes it onto an EP or album, a SoundCloud exclusive! 

Building from a trap-inspired drum pattern, it has a rising bass and a rousing finish at 2 mins. 

The lyrics are observations of modern life in my town, and how I like to walk or run at night.

When The Streets Sleep

Written about my dad's life and background. From growing up in Middleton, Greater Manchester, in the 50s and 60s, to joining the Royal Navy, before meeting my mother and finding his home.

The cover art is a picture of the man himself.

A more electronic experiment using 7/4 timing. This one may have multiple versions, as I quite like the underlying song and think it could work in an acoustic arrangement. 

I sing about a journey home at night, followed by falling asleep in front of the TV or when settling a child to sleep.

Si Debanks is an independent artist based near Oxford in the UK. He is a singer, guitarist and keyboardist who previously performed in local bands but now produces solo material. 

Simon’s primary influences are drawn from the indie music scene of the 90s and the first decade of the new millennium, but you will also find plenty of contemporary flavours. 

Simon’s music has been played on local radio, notably BBC Introducing in Oxfordshire & Berkshire and Windrush Radio in West Oxfordshire, UK.
