Frankfurt based DJ, curator and event manager Shia LaBiff, known amongst his peers as Michèl Dion Baltin, has a huge repertoire of music and influences which he is constantly sharing for the last 20 years. Starting in early age with Indie, Post Punk and New Wave he soon discovered the joy of electronic club music and started following the path of New Order, Primal Scream and Andrew Weatherall into a new beat driven world.

You will hear shades of Italo and Electronic Body Music, New Beat, Acid House, Techno and New/Cold/Synth Wave in his mixtapes or DJ sets. 

His event and guest mix series Blank Wave is providing familiar names like Perel, Lauer, Shubostar, Que Sakamoto, Rotciv, Moderna and Skelesys – just to name a few. Also check out his Discocaine series if you’re more into Italo Disco, undiscovered 80s gems and Proto House.

Back in 2008, Kommi Torpela acquired his first set of turntables and started spinning hardcore, drum & bass and techno records. Under a different moniker, he performed in various underground parties in Finland.

Some years later, "DJ Kommi Torpela" started off as a not-so-serious side project. It served as an outlet for his 80's and 90's music dj sets, mainly focusing on Italo Disco and Italo House. Further down the line, his interest over genres like Italo Disco, New Beat and EBM grew stronger. As modern productions started to emerge as Indie Dance and Dark Disco, "DJ Kommi Torpela" would then become his main alias.

In his dj sets, he likes to combine new with old, keep things interesting and surprising, and have a right balance between seriousness and playfulness. 

"The Universal Beats guest mix is showcasing my vision of darker side of Italo Disco, what I consider being my main style. It contains a fair amount of my all-time and recent favourites."

UNDO is a Barcelona based dj and producer who has released records on labels such as Correspondant, My Favorite Robot, Beachcoma, La Dame Noir, Areal Records and his own Factor City imprint. With almost 15 years in the game, the long term Razzmatazz (The Loft and Lolita) and Moog resident is considered one of the leading catalan tastemakers in dance music.

 A key player in the Spanish electronic music scene, UNDO has long been a pivotal figure for dance music in Barcelona, and beyond. Now based away from the city, on the beautiful Costa Brava, but still a regular presence at it’s many clubs and festivals, UNDO, otherwise known as Gabriel Berlanga, continues to impress with his fiercely individual take on club and electronic music.

Releasing primarily through his own Factory City imprint, UNDO’s latest LP, Disconnect, is a colourful, acid-tinged snapshot of an ever evolving mindset. Receiving plaudits and both radio and club play from tastemaker DJs such as Andrew Weatherall, Roman Flugel and Erol Alkan, the fifty-first release on Factory City is the dynamic result of years in the DJ booth and full-time experimentation in the studio.

UNDO’s music and approach is rooted in melody, and awash in a distinctly European sensibility. Together with Chicago, Detroit or modern-era Berlin, another influence on the musical evolution of UNDO remains the often underappreciated Valencia club scene of the eighties and early nineties. In Barcelona, as a young man, Berlanga enjoyed nights out in open-minded clubs that fused every incoming musical wave, be it raw EBM and electro, kraut, post punk or weirdo disco. As a more hardcore sound swept Spain, Berlanga stayed true to the energy established in his early musical experiences, slowly but surely mastering his craft.

A low-key approach based, one based around friends and community, remains at the heart of UNDO’s work with Factory City, his label that has been ‘on the dancefloor since 2003’. An enthusiastic reflection of Berlanga’s own tastes, the music of UNDO has been joined by artists such as Fairmont, Nhar and Club Bizarre. It’s unifying, offbeat sound skirts the influences of post-punk, vintage acid house and balearic, while never getting caught up in nostalgia. ‘Disconnect’ has already been expanded upon with suitably out-there remixes from underground artists such as Dimitri Viemar, Cabaret Nocturne and Inigo Vonteir, with more excursions to follow.

A long-time resident at Barcelona’s legendary Razzmatazz venue, and former creative director at it’s club-within-a-club, ‘The Loft and Lolita’, an UNDO DJ set joins similar dots, creating a unique energy rooted in decades of electronic culture. Thousands of international dancers have been illuminated by his numerous sets at the city’s flagship celebration of electronic music, Sonar. Whether in the studio or behind the decks in Barcelona, Berlin, London, Mexico City or anywhere else in the world, UNDO is an artist who sounds only like himself; deep, sincere and timeless.

One of the nicest guys in the scene Luca Venezia aka @CursesForever is known for his unique blends of New Wave and Post-Punk with his ghostly vocals and guitars, punctuated with flashes of 80's EBM and New Beat. Whether it's performing live at the late Andrew Weatherall's Convenanza Festival, DJng in the main room at Circoloco DC-10 or indeed his own productions which often exploring the darker side of 80's Italo-disco, he continues to grow legions of new admirers. 

A few years back he launched his own imprint @OmbraInternational and the label soon established itself as a quality outlet for lovers of this unique brand of synth laden, bass guitar inspired electronica. Recently we collaborated with the label and a selection of the Ombra family to support '30 hours for Beirut' with Ballroom Blitz and Palestinian Radio Alhara to raise money for those most affected by recent event in Beirut. Over the course of the coming week we're delighted to share the sets during this radio event via the Sinchi Channel.
