Quadrant Soundscape presents In:Focus 009

For our 9th mix of the series we turn the spotlight to one of our favourite labels of the last few years, Australia's finest - Primary [colours]

Primary Colours was founded in a pub over an IPA in 2012 (The Perfect place to form a label, in our opinion) and is the brainchild of Lance Harrison and Mark Baumann, aka Echo Inspectors. 

Over the last few years the label has gone from strength to strength and really carved out a unique sound amongst the Deep and Dub Techno Community. They showcase some of the top artists from around as well as bringing to the fore some of Australia's best talents. 

As with all our In:Focus mixes the challenge is to highlight the breadth and diversity of the label in question. It is by no means a 'greatest hits' and there is so much amazing music on this label that we didn't manage to include in this mix but we urge you to check out if you haven't already.

Biography: 
Tommy Köhler at the age of 16 discovered his love for electronic music. At that time he was inspired by music sets of Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth, Karotte and many other artists. He also had a big interest in spinning records. Tom began to create Mixes... He put on records in many reputable locations in his homeland and at numerous radio stations like Sputnik Radio for example. He showed his brilliant DJ skills at many parties, listen to his wonderful mix.

This time, Tom has recorded a special mix to celebrate the 5th anniversary of our signature podcast, DUBBISM.

You close your eyes.

The edges of thought begin to blur, and the inner walls of the mind soften, as though the skull itself has learned to breathe. Patterns unfold: shadows fold into light, and voices collapse into echoes that never belonged to language.

Time slows.

You feel a dilation, a widening—like the pupil of the brain opening toward a vast interior horizon. The self is no longer fixed but smeared across frequencies, drifting in a continuum of reverberation and stillness.

The sound is not outside or within, but between. It is the marrow of perception—the secret architecture of listening.

Somewhere, far beyond measure, the cerebrum exhales.

And in that release, you understand: expansion is not an escape, but a return.
