I am very sure that this is not the intended sound, but the more harsh and distinct bass sound adds some other quality to the tune. But for authenticity's sake you gotta stick with the pumping 6581R4-Version, with that extra means of filterdistortion, as only the 6581 can do it. ^^

There is no clipping in the recording here. The SID6581(the 'older' model) is quite prone to distortion when feeding more than one operator to it's filter. 

...one of my favourite tunes to use this 'feature'.

Just the 6581R4, i really do suppose this is the way the bass has to be played in that tune. 

As a sad note to this tune, Kjell Nordbo, a very talented musician, passed away a few years ago.

PRI is a very talented musician with a brilliant collection of tunes made on the sixtyfour. This tune here might be one of the less (the least?) appropriate to acknowledge or introduce his talent... 
Anyway, and as this is my personal choice, this tune rocks :]

Ah no SID! This is actually JCHs version of the Strikeforce tune (original by Markus Schneider) made in Vibrants' EDLIB (DOS), wich is a tracker for Adlib/OPL(FM)-soundcards. And this playback is emulated, though. Just dropped it off for being rare somehow.

This is a growing collection of personal choice, with tunes made on the Commodore 64 computer system by various artists. 

These tracks are always original recordings, that is, not recorded from an emulator, and without any post-processing.

As there exist different versions of the 64's soundgenerator, with a more or less unique  timbre to each other, and whenever a tune's playback fits into what i call my humble musical taste, these particular versions of that tunes will be made available in parallel.

The work presented here is not mine at all. All tunes' recordings made from a C64 or emulator are widely considered as "free to share", also expressed by many of the musicians themselves. All copyrights still belong to the respective composers/artist, though! In case of any violation of intellectual property on this page let me know.
