A goodbye sea shanty for our satellite, CTIM (Compact Total Irradiance Monitor, studying the Sun’s total light energy), which burned up in the atmosphere in December 2023.

After 550 days in-orbit, another one of our beloved SmallSats, CIRBE (Colorado Inner Radiation Belt Experiment, which has been measuring energetic particles in the Earth’s magnetic field) has re-entered the atmosphere. We continued our “LASP SmallSatellite Eras Tour” Cosmic Concert by having CIRBE sing a goodbye song to the world that was decoded by amateur radio enthusiasts in Colorado, Minnesota, and Arizona. CIRBE finally “retired” over Florida on 10/4/24. Farewell, CIRBE!
