Alessandro Adriani runs the esteemed Mannequin label and mailorder, Italian by blood, Berlin by location. Starting out sometime during the C-B-S days (if memory serves correct), Mannequin specializes, but in no way is limited to, unearthing lost gems from the Italian wave/synth/industrial scene. Making noise with releases such as Danza Meccanica Italian synth wave 1982-1987, Der Zeltweg Italian Tapes Industrial Music 82-84, L.a.s.'s Crime, Musumeci, Decadance, 2+2=5, and Tommy De Chirico, we also see a strong NYC connection with the label. Mannequin through the years has released contemporary artists Led er Est, Martial Canterel and NY favorites, Dust. With each with release the label catalog goes deeper and deeper reaching the edges of the unknown.
Here we have the label boss doing a way out there mix of wrong speed trance and hardcore...something of an updated Baldelli maybe...check it out and check your mind at the door.

Rome native Allesandro Adriani is something of a synth-wave obsessive and Mannequin Records, the label he now runs from Berlin is the manifestation of his disorder. Mannequin exists across two spheres, functioning as a platform for reissues from artists such as Italian synth-pop duo Degada Saf or German post-punkers Taste Of Decay whilst releasing music from newer bands such as Led Er Est and artists like Mushy and Beau Wanzer. Originally funded by selling ‘Magic: The Gathering’ playing cards found in his basement Mannequin was initially conceived as a distributor for the lost music Adriani stumbled across in record shops and garage sales: post-punk archaeology. By the time of the re-issue package ‘Danza Meccanica - Italian Synth Wave 1982 – 1987’ in 2009 the project had evolved to became a fully fledged record label and now has over seventy releases to its name. Whilst the stylistic range of the label remains broad the imprint maintains a distinct identity by channelling the loss, melancholy and spiky angst of late 1970s and 1980s European punk and electronic music down through its artists and releases. This mix recalls the darker tones of the original post-punk, synth wave era whilst charged with a fresh angst and loss and the caustic tragedies of a world alienated from itself.

Andi es una DJ/Productora con sede en la ciudad de Nueva York, y fundadora de la fiesta dark synth e industrial, SYNTHICIDE.

Su propia estética combina su devoción hacia el underground industrial de los 80's, EBM, maliciosos sintetizadores con new beat, techno oscuro y noise, creando un paisaje sonoro agresivo y sombrío que es indiscutiblemente bailable.

Knife presents Andi who has been cultivating the dark electronic scene at Brooklyn's notorious venue Bossa Nova Civic Club since 2014.

Her specific sound is sleazy, aggressive and unarguably danceable. Causing mayhem on murky dance floors she transmits decomposing machine music for the putrefied souls.

Andi is a New York City-based DJ/Producer, and the founder of the dark synth and industrial party, SYNTHICIDE.

Her own aesthetic combines her devotion to underground 1980’s industrial, EBM, and sleazy synth with new beat, dark techno and noise, creating an aggressive and dismal soundscape that is unarguably danceable.

With her music she aims to challenge the expectations within the confines of this masculine genre, often focusing on the ideas of revenge and strength through a woman’s perspective.

Andi released the SYNTHICIDE Compilation V1.0 and her track “Object: Crucifix”. She also has a few other projects to be announced in the coming months.

Next in to take charge of the FH controls and buttons for the next hour or so is Andrew Red Hand. A man who's alias could easily be that of a bounty hunter, baddy in a 70's western, a marvel-esque superhero sporting one red velvet glove or a cult figurehead of an anarchist movement; alas - he is (as far as our knowledge) none of these things. 

Dubbed as the "Romanian Underground Resistance" by the late legend Aaron Carl, we imagine Andrew being deployed as Romanian style sonic Mad Max - armed only with the iron fists of Duke Nukem, a bag of Detroit records, a balaclava and a point to prove.

Music wise, the Romanian humanoid has a wealth of powerful releases in his wake, with the likes of Lobster's '1Ø Pills', Detroits Matrix Records and two stints on M>O>S, all offering up Andrew's hard-hitting cast iron material. After this years electro-techno-acid Revolution EP on Lobster Theremin, there is plenty on this horizon with upcoming contributions on XRC, Dark Circles's and a third EP for M>O>S. Keep em' peeled.

Boris Barksdale is a dj & producer from Greece and currently based in Paris, an artist truly devoted to the original underground techno sound and culture. Mostly influenced by early electro, synth wave, industrial, broken rhythms, FM synths and cinematic lo-fi distorted and absurd soundscapes.

UNMASKED DISCUSSION 69 | BORIS BARKSDALE

The next @Ombrainternational vinyl drops March 29 with music from Italy, Germany, and France. Ombra 009 features Order89, Dog.ma, Local Suicide & Curses, and Amarcord *@user-572253535).
 
The latter is an upcoming Italian producer who we highly recommend following.  In the last months Amarcord released a collaborative EP with Speaking Minds on Alex Niggemann's Aeon label, completed by a remix of the mighty Bawrut, and another EP on the Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records remixed by Man Power and Boot & Tax. Later in 2019 wenwill see his music featured on labels such as Jennifer Cardini's Correspondent.

On an already high-quality release, his track ‘trees’ really stood out to us and goes to show his many musical influences from Ambient, Krautrock, New Wave, Disco to Techno.

Episode #074 - MAN2.0

It had been raining incessantly for months now, the streets seemed desolate as if the locals had abandoned them, opting instead for the safety of their own homes. The sky was eternally overcast and gloomy, but in downtown the bright neon signs of the shops lit up the neighbourhood in fluorescent pinks, blues and greens. Here, the mood was different, the people were hopeful. In swathes, the inhabitants walked the vibrantly illuminated streets, filling them with laughter and enthusiastic chitchat. There was no point mourning, life was too short for that. 

Slow Motion's sister label Wrong Era welcome Pardon Moi to the family AKA Berlin-based duo James Brook and Thomas Freudenthal. The pair produce three original tracks of new wave aimed directly at the dance floor - our favourite is label manager Franz Scala's Italo twist on the title track.
