Hi everyone! Here's a re-run of a set that I played for the Resonance Crew at Loop Bar in Melbourne CBD early this (Sunday) morning.

In this recording there are a few additional extras and last minute changes that weren't included originally, although this mix still stays true to the original fusion of tribalistic rhythms and futuristic sounds that you would of heard at the venue this morning.

I had a great time playing through their new VOID Audio sound system, which is stunning - both acoustically and visually, and it was a real pleasure to hear some of my favorite music pumping through it!

July 2015 Techno Mix

One of the more ear-catching producers to come out of Spain of late has been the Barcelona-based Dj/producer Miguel Bastida. His sound is one crafted for the underground: Deep, rolling techno that is as moody as it is groove-based. Check out his productions on labels like Sci+Tec, Toolroom, Bedrock, Trapez and Deeperfect to understand why some of the scene’s biggest hitters all approve of Bastida’s heavy dancefloor gems (Paco Osuna, Dubfire, Riche Hawtin and Umek are just some of those on the Bastida-train). He also runs the techno label Be One Records which has silently churned out some of the more interesting techno to date since its inception in 2011. For his Balance Selections podcast the Spaniard has turned in possibly our most driving podcast of the series, a selection of techno and tech-house cuts that is meant for the big rooms, all crafted together in a one-take live recording which showcases his talented CDJ skills with fx and smooth transitions...

Parquet Recordings Mixtape 02 by Ghostlike

Ghostlike from Sydney, Australia takes control for the second episode of our Parquet Recordings Mixtape Series. Best known for his distinctively dark, experimental sound which combines classical elements creating ghostly emotional presence in modern house music. His track "The Shadow Gallery" was the first release on Parquet in January this year, and was played and supported by many DJs worldwide. It's been a very long time since I've done a "proper" mix...this one is inspired by festivals recently played up north in beautiful Queensland. When sun sets and day becomes night, this is when my vibrational frequency is at its highest :)

FREYA: Frequency [Sept 2016]

Finnebassen might be one of the more well known house cats to come out of his home country of Norway. He is a naturally talented musician who won’t shy away from playing live guitar on his productions, always favouring a hint of nostalgia to permeate his tracks. A regular performer in his hometown since 2008, it was only from 2012 onwards when the rest of the world sat up and noticed.

Then again, how you could you not pay attention to the Norwegian’s amazing run of nu-disco and house flavoured productions. His release on Electronique Digital  ‘If You Only Knew’ reached number 3 on the Beatport Nu Disco Chart, and the Noir Music-signed track 'Touching Me' reached the number one spot on Beatport’s Deep House chart. Not to mention releases on labels including The House of Disco and even major players like Warner Music.

Gig-wise Romania and Belgium are all scheduled for the Finnebassen treatment later this year, alongside appearances at Berlin's Watergate, Amsterdam ADE, and a tour of Brazil in November.

As the first Norwegian artist to do a Balance Selections podcast, Finnebassen does not disappoint. And with tracks from Minilogue, Red Axes and Trikk, this mix will soothe many ears.

Signal Loop has been DJing in and around the Victorian bush doof scene for a number of years now, surrounding dance-floors with a unique blend of high-calorie techno and chunky driving progressive, which results in an auditory experience that builds from start to finish. Signal Loop's personal philosophy on DJing revolves around combining a selection of high quality hand picked tunes, and focusing on crafting smooth transitions so that each track has space to breath and show it's true colors.

While we could say that he has been exposed to a wide range of music through the course of his life, and first started experimenting with the controls on his parents old walnut-veneered record player at a tender young age, we won't. But what we will say is that over the years he has developed a strong understanding of what is needed to engage an audience with a distinctive array of sounds, that develop and evolve from the beginning to the end of his sets, regardless of whether he plays on vinyl or CDJs.
