We started working on this compilation during the first lockdown. A robotic voice snippet reminiscent of "Kappa" kickstarted the idea of having the project center around (traditional and made-up) mythical bea(s)ts.

A Leviathan, Kappa and Centipede (CA001)

You scoop up a little bit of water from the sea with your hand and pour it over the creature's head. It immediately comes back to life, thanking you before it disappears into the sea.

You stop to look around,
trying to see through the foggy night.
Suddenly,
as the clouds drift,
and the flower moon trenches the woods purpur,
you see it.
An enormous centipede, just sitting there, staring at you through its deep black eyes filled with nothing but murder.
You know you can’t run,
it’s just playing with its prey.
As it rears up you’re stunned by its majesty,
A truly fascinating sight! Too bad you won’t be able to tell your friends…

Aldet is a creature of knowledge with a few brains, yes, a few. There are some with three or even seven brains. Imagine it as seven crazy scientists combined in one person, each with their own intention and field of research, or as a superposition of different harmonies, melodies and rhythms, all in one creature. Despite its split character, Aldet functions as one and can think of and realize what a hundred persons couldn’t imagine.

The strange creature crawls out of the water before me. You bow down for a greeting, 
and as the creature returns the gesture, some seawater spills from its head. You wait for it to get back up, but it just stands there, frozen in place.

The Leviathan we are talking about has existed for centuries, deep down where humans can’t find it. For decades it has been lying around not able to move, not sleeping but never fully awake. From time to time it changed and is roaming about ever since at a steady, never-changing pace.

Maurice Schirm - Leviathan

There are rumours about this thing.
Since long before we existed,
every year, during May’s full moon,
this enormous centipede comes out of the dark, bringing nothing but terror.
Its maxillipeds are said to be strong enough to crush men, horses and souls. There are many stories about where it came from or what it looks like, yet no eyewitness reports…
