It’s a good plan to keep an umbrella with you. ‘Only the Rain’ holds the rainbow (it says) and knows the way back to the sun, but you can’t get to rainbow or sun without going through a drenching.

It’s like the song says: I’d love it if I could walk in lockstep with other folk – especially the people I love - but the fact is, I can’t help it. I’m dancing on my own because I’m dancing to a different drum. I guess when push comes to shove, we all have to dance to our own drum or else leave the floor.

Morganisation's anti-woke satire built around a title culled from Genesis 13: 'Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.' The cover painting by Nikolai Lukich Babasyuk, of Vladimir Lenin on the first day of Soviet Power in 1917, seemed appropriate.

This track started with a Morganisation rehearsal singing about where we all are at the dawn of 2022 - 'You couldn't make it up'. It’s a favourite down at the flying club.

The fantastic closing performance to the Commonwealth Games by Ozzy Osbourne reminded us all what a marvellous heritage we have from the 60’s Brumbeat groups that helped to change the face of popular music. The first record ever played on BBC Radio 1 (when the station was launched on 30 September 1967) was ‘Flowers in the Rain performed by Brum band The Move featuring Winson Green lad Carl Wayne on lead vocals. Carl sadly died in 2004 but old friend and colleague Dave Scott-Morgan, of Magnum and ELO fame, found a dusty old tape of Carl performing a heart rending Morgan song called ‘I wrote a Song’ which Dave, together with Matt O’Malley of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, have been able to digitally re-engineer into a great track to be released to celebrate Carl’s birthday on August 18th.

‘This is the Day’ is a one-off from the past, a recording made by Richard Tandy and myself back in the year of analog. We were known as R & D back then and this song was actually the B side of our single ‘Berlin’. 
I decided to put it out now because one morning I heard the song again and also, I heard the news. I thought: ‘I have to put it out now. It’s a song for today despite it being done awhile back.’

Dockland Light is a bundle of fun actually birthed by a friend who heard 'Love's gonna get you' and told me how it took him up into a dream scape of travelling into the city on a train, looking to meet up with a cool lady named 'Chantelle'. Well this song just jumped out of the picture, helped along by the fact I used to be in a group called 'The Chantelles' (with Jeff Lynne, no less!).

Grimm Doo Records release number 'MUG1' was written by Mug 1 - the chief mug at MUGSY --  I used to masquerade as MORGANISATION but now for 2023 it's MUGSY. Lots more music to follow, all for Mugsy's first album called 'Citizen Zero'
