► Tyr: The stalwart god of Justice and War amongst the 'Aesir' in germanic mythology. He sacrificed his hand to the monstrous wolf Fenrir, who bites off his limb while the gods bind the animal, and he is foretold of being consumed by the similarly monstrous dog 'Garmr' during the events of Ragnarök.
In Old Norse sources, Tyr is alternately described as the son of the Jötunn 'Hymir' or of the god 'Odin'. He is the namesake of the rune 'Tiwaz' (ᛏ). On runic inscriptions, 'ᛏ' often appears as a magical symbol.

Second edition of Nytt Land's 2017 album, which quickly sold out on first pressing.

Notably outstanding on the Russian scene and largely compared with the legendary Wardruna, NYTT LAND are unique in their devotion to ritual Northern music and tradition. Their approach, using genuine native hand-crafted instruments, and true Old Norse, help them to grasp the true spirit of ancient Northern music like no one in Eastern Europe has done before. Their music is mostly based on the sources from Poetic Edda, performed in original Old Islandic.

"Fimbulvinter" is enriched with instruments like bagpipes and trembita (Alpine horn), and throat singing skillfully used to illustrate the occurrence of the forces of chaos; chthonic monsters in the world of men and gods. Fear and powerlessness alongside belief in the coming revival, renewal.

All Scandinavian mythology is permeated with fatalism, humbleness to fate. The same mood saturates "Fimbulvinter". The first part is dedicated to the creation of the world and people, embodying the warm seasons. The second half to winter, the death of all living things.

Warduna - Rotlaust tre fell

After the success of their previous collaboration «Skuggsjá»; Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) and Einar Selvik (Wardruna) are now following up with an imposing new piece entitled «Hugsjá». The word ‘Hugsjá’ means to see with, or within, the mind – and it reflects the idea that one’s mind has the potential to see further than the eyes can reach. By weaving together indigenous and contemporary thoughts, sounds and instruments, they are inviting you on a vivid journey - exploring the distant history and traditions along coastal Norway. The album is set for release through Norwegian label By Norse Music on April 20th 2018.

Hugsjá was first commissioned by, and performed at, Bergen International Festival in 2017, as part a series of concerts named Nordvegen (“the northern road”); inspired by local history and traditions in each of the places visited. The Nordvegen concerts created an acoustic and intimate basis for the grandiose commissioned work, “Hugsjá”. The piece received its world premiere in Bergen’s premiere concert hall Grieghallen, and ultimately the material was recorded and became this full-length album. Roadburn 2018 will be both the release party and international live debut of “Hugsjá”, the album.

Bjorn Ironside, Ragnar Lothbrok’s son, was one of the kings of Sweden who lived in the 9th century and who is assumed to be one of the founders and the first ruler of the protohistoric Swedish dynasty named the Munsö Dynasty.
Bjorn was one of the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok and Princess Aslaug. Also, as another conflict with the TV series, Bjorn was not their eldest son. It was Ivar the Boneless and Bjorn was the second eldest son.
As a fearless warrior and fierce ruler as his father, Björn Ironside raided and pillaged many places including France, Spain, Italy, England, Wales, cities in Mediterranean Sea like Sicily and coasts of North Africa.
Bjorn Ironside founded the House of Münso in Sweden, which is known as the Old Dynasty and which ruled Sweden for many generations until one day they were thrown out of Sweden after a long period of civil war through the end of the 10th century.

The Münso Dynasty became the ruler house of Denmark in time. The name Münso was derived from the island where there is a hill claimed to be Bjorn Ironside’s grave.
