Aasaavaree, Fourth Mehla:

ਮਾਈ ਮੋਰੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਕਿਥੇ ਹੈ,
O mother, my mother, tell me about my Beloved Lord.

ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਰਹਲੁ ਬੇਲਿ ਰੀਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਇਉਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਊਂਠ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਵੇਲਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਭੀ, ਇਕ ਪਲ ਭੀ (ਸੁਖੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Without the Lord, I cannot live for a moment, even an instant; I love Him, like the camel loves the vine. ||1||Pause||

ਹਮਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਬਿਰਕਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੀਤ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥
(ਹੇ ਮਾਂ!) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਤਾਵਲਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ 
My mind has become sad and distant, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my Friend.

ਜੈਸੇ ਅਲਿ ਕਮਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੌਰਾ ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।
As the bumblebee cannot live without the lotus, I cannot live without the Lord. ||1||

ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ, ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ । 
Keep me under Your Protection, O Beloved Master of the Universe; fulfill my faith, O Lord of the World.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੧੩॥੧੫॥੬੭॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ) ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ ।੨।੩੯।੧੩।੧੫।੬੭।
Servant Nanak's mind is filled with bliss, when he beholds the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, even for an instant. ||2||39||13||15||67||

ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

ਕਤ ਨਹੀ ਠਉਰ ਮੂਲੁ ਕਤ ਲਾਵਉ ॥
(ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਤੇ (ਅਜਿਹਾ) ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ (ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ), (ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ) ਮੈਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰਤਾਂ? (ਭਾਵ, ਕੋਈ ਬਾਹਰਲੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ)
There is no special place where the soul aches; where should I apply the ointment?

ਖੋਜਤ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ (ਅਜਿਹੀ ਖ਼ਾਸ) ਥਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭੀ  ।੧।
I have searched the body, but I have not found such a place. ||1||

ਲਾਗੀ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੀਰ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮ ਦੀ) ਦਰਦ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪੀੜ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ)
He alone knows it, who feels the pain of such love;

ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਅਨੀਆਲੇ ਤੀਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਅਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੀਰ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
the arrows of the Lord's devotional worship are so sharp! ||1||Pause||

ਏਕ ਭਾਇ ਦੇਖਉ ਸਭ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, 
I look upon all His soul-brides with an impartial eye;

ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਉ ਸਹ ਕਉਨ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨॥
ਪਰ) ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹ ਜਾਣਾਂ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜੀ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
how can I know which ones are dear to the Husband Lord? ||2||

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਸ (ਜਗਿਆਸੂ) ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੇਖ ਹਨ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ), 
Says Kabeer, one who has such destiny inscribed upon her forehead

ਸਭ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥੩॥੨੧॥
ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੩।੨੧।
