Naam Simran (Raag Jaijawanti, Puratan Reet of Sri Taran Taran Sahib) - respected Ustad Harjinder Singh Lallie Jee (UK)

Its 100s year old Puratan Reet for Naam Simran (in Raag Jaijawanti) of Sri Taran Taran Sahib. It was copied by brilliant Pandit V. D. Paluskar. Paluskar even had music vidyala at Lahore. He was first to use it but sad part is he didn't give any credits to the source. Despite there is no Raag Jaijawanti in Hindustani Classical Music, as this raag was founded by Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj. But still Paluskar named this raag Raag Gara. Anyways, Paluskar was often invited by Sikhs on annual Holi Raag Darbar that used to happen within complex of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, during festival of Holla Mahalla. This reet was further copied by Bollywood. This was copied by a brilliant music director Shyam Sunder for a Bollywood film and later used in famous Bollywood movie 'Purab & Paschim' for bhajan 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Raam'

Dr.Gurnam Singh, is the youngest son of renowned Shiromani ragi Bhai Uttam Singh. Dr Singh, born into a family of famous Kirtankars, was introduced to kirtan at an early age by his father. Later, he studied kirtan under the famous Professor Tara Singh of Patiala. Gurnam Singh Ji has written numerous books and edited some of the books written by Prof. Tara Singh ji. In addition he has an album to his credit in which he has sung shabads in the various raags mentioned in the Guru Granth Sahib.
