ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ॥
gur pooraa pooree taa kee kalaa ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ (ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ, 
The Guru is Perfect, and Perfect is His Power.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਅਟਲਾ ॥
gur kaa sabadh sadhaa sadh aTalaa ||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਦੇ ਉਕਾਈ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is unchanging, forever and ever.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਨਸੈ ॥੧॥
gur kee baanee jis man vasai || dhookh dharadh sabh taa kaa nasai ||1||
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਰਦ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
All pains and afflictions run away from those, whose minds are filled with the Word of the Guru's Bani. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
har ra(n)g raataa man raam gun gaavai ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ-) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, 
Imbued with the Lord's Love, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਮੁਕਤੋੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mukatuo saadhoo dhooree naavai ||1|| rahaau ||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ‘ਮੁਕਤ’) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
They are liberated, bathing in the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
gur parasaadhee autare paar ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!  ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, 
By Guru's Grace, they are carried across to the other shore;

ਭਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
bhau bharam binase bikaar ||
ਡਰ ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ) ਵਿਕਾਰ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, 
they are rid of fear, doubt and corruption.

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨਾ ॥
man tan a(n)tar base gur charanaa ||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Guru's Feet abide deep within their minds and bodies.

ਨਿਰਭੈ ਸਾਧ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
nirabhai saadh pare har saranaa ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
The Holy are fearless; they take to the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||2||

ਅਨਦ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਸੂਖ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
anadh sahaj ras sookh ghanere ||
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡਲੋਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ 
They are blessed with abundant bliss, happiness, pleasure and peace.

ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇਰੇ ॥
dhusaman dhookh na aavai nere ||
ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਬਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ),
Enemies and pains do not even approach them.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
gur poorai apune kar raakhe ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, 
The Perfect Guru makes them His Own, and protects them.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੩॥
har naam japat kilabikh sabh laathe ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।੩।
Chanting the Lord's Name, they are rid of all their sins. ||3||

ਸੰਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸਿਖ ਭਏ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
sa(n)t saajan sikh bhe suhele ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜੋੜਿਆ, 
The Saints, spiritual companions and Sikhs are exalted and uplifted.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਲੈ ਮੇਲੇ ॥
gur poorai prabh siau lai mele ||
ਉਹ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ । 
The Perfect Guru leads them to meet God.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਫਾਹਾ ਕਾਟਿਆ ॥
janam maran dhukh faahaa kaaTiaa ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ— ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
The painful noose of death and rebirth is snapped.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੜਦਾ ਢਾਕਿਆ ॥੪॥੮॥
kahu naanak gur paRadhaa ddaakiaa ||4||8||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ ।੪।੮।
Says Nanak, the Guru covers their faults. ||4||8||

ਆਸਾ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ
Aasaa, The Word Of Shaykh Fareed Jee:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਦਿਲਹੁ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੇਈ ਸਚਿਆ ॥
They alone are true, whose love for God is deep and heart-felt.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਿ ਕਾਂਢੇ ਕਚਿਆ ॥੧॥
Those who have one thing in their heart, and something else in their mouth, are judged to be false. ||1||

ਰਤੇ ਇਸਕ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਰੰਗਿ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕੇ ॥
Those who are imbued with love for the Lord, are delighted by His Vision.

ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇ ਭੁਇ ਭਾਰੁ ਥੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Those who forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are a burden on the earth. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਰਿ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਸੇ ॥
Those whom the Lord attaches to the hem of His robe, are the true dervishes at His Door.

ਤਿਨ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਉ ਆਏ ਸਫਲੁ ਸੇ ॥੨॥
Blessed are the mothers who gave birth to them, and fruitful is their coming into the world. ||2||

ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗਮ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੂ ॥
O Lord, Sustainer and Cherisher, You are infinite, unfathomable and endless.

ਜਿਨਾ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚੁੰਮਾ ਪੈਰ ਮੂੰ ॥੩॥
Those who recognize the True Lord - I kiss their feet. ||3||

ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਹ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਤੂ ਬਖਸੰਦਗੀ ॥
I seek Your Protection - You are the Forgiving Lord.

ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦੈ ਖੈਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੰਦਗੀ ॥੪॥੧॥

Sant Baba Jawala Singh Ji Harkhowal Wale

Born at village Mulla Hamza in Montgomery District (now in Pakistan) in 1900 A.D., Bhai Samund Singh was given training in music by his father Bhai Hazur Singh Ji from his early child-hood. As a little boy he won a number of prizes and distinctions at musical concerts. He came to be known as 'Kaka Samund Singh' and was much in demand at Sikh congregations. His party came to be known as the best in the understanding of their art and almost perfect in presentation of Gurbani Kirtan. With his unique melo-dious voice, an extensive and deep understanding of Gur-bani, correct interpretation of ragas, attractive style of sing-ing and great human qualities, he reigned supreme for sixty years in the world of Gurbani Kirtan. He performed kirtan at the Gurdwara Janam Sthan, Sri Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev, for many years. He broadcast kirtan for 36 years from All India Radio, Lahore and later from Jalandhar and commanded wide listening. Passers-by stopped in the streets to listen to his kirtan irrespective of their faith. He was invited to perform kirtan in the National Programme of Music by All India Radio, the highest recognition of his art. He was given State award by the Punjab Government in 1971. He passed away at Ludhiana (5th January, 1972).
