Segue is Jordan Sauer from Vancouver, Canada. He makes electronic music on his computer, everything from ambient and drone to dub and techno. With a keen attention to the sounds chosen in each composition, the music is built up of layers of tones and textures using recordings of acoustic instruments and everyday events.

After a quiet stretch, Silent Season briefly emerges from hibernation to present Kumonomori, a new EP from Hidden Sequence — the duo of Paul Simmons and Stefano Ugliano. Longtime fans of the label, the pair crafted these tracks with Silent Season in mind, drawing deeply from the textures and moods that define the catalog.

Kumo no Mori (雲の森) — which translates from Japanese as Cloud Forest — is a contemplative journey through sky forests and ancient echoes, rooted in the organic pulse of deep ambient techno. Each track unfolds with a sense of patience and depth: from the drifting warmth of Bisaro Anima to the dappled light of Komorebi, through the reverberations of memory in Ancestral Echos, and finally into the misty stillness of Cloud Forest.

Originally tucked away while the label lay dormant, the release now sees light with spring’s arrival and the timing of Bandcamp Friday — a moment that felt right to share this work with the world. Kumonomori is a quiet offering from the den, a reminder of the timeless sounds that continue to shape Silent Season.

We continue our journey into sound with the Wandering II Compilation. This compilation celebrates the 20th release in the original SS series. A journey that took close to a year to compile and prepare. The tracklist is comprised of friends and artists who share in a connection with Silent Season through their music.

The Wandering Compilation is named after the Wandering tree, a Big Leaf Maple that grows very slowly near the beach by my house. I sit under this tree to ponder and watch the ocean. It’s a favourite place to chill with music and contemplate life. It’s under this tree that the idea of compiling a series of music that embodies the Silent Season vision and sound was born. We welcome you to sit back, close you’re eyes and listen to the sounds of the Wandering II compilation.

In a world rife with chaos there is so much beauty that can be found by being in nature. The aim of the Wandering compilation is to share music that encourages people to take notice of their natural surroundings and find peace within Mother Nature. The love of nature is a common language that transcends political and social boundaries. Through music, nature gives us universal purpose.

Podcast #005 : Sonitus Eco. 

Deep, dark, melancholic ambience infused with lush pads echoing throughout the rhythmic elements of dub." Sonitus Eco is the moniker and project of dub techno maltese producer Justin Meli. Having a vast discography throughout the years with releases on labels like Silent Season, ROHS!!, Subself Records, Evasion Room Records, Pinkpube and Deepindub - his unique sound knows no boundaries. 2012 saw his debut album "it is loneliness that makes the loudest noise” on Silent Season, and also remixes for several artists over the years.
In 2015 he joined forces with maltese dj and avid music collector Serial Depth to start a small independent label called Haar Records. Their aim for the project is to share their vision of fog filled, mist-oriented techno. The first release is set to be coming out on vinyl in early 2016.
Sonitus Eco also forms part of a live project with another local artist as ‘Haddiela’. Their sound can be described as floor techno, derived from modular systems and FM synthesis.

"From time to time I do a silent season mixes , especially when playing in outdoor venues , as i feel the music has a special connection with the outdoors . I recorded this podcast while playing live at statix festival 2015 , Malta . playing only tracks from the wandering 2 compilation , which has more than 3 hours of blissful music"..

Over the Mountains is Segue's second full length release with Silent Season, the long time coming follow up to 2013's Pacifica. In a similar vein to Pacifica, Over the Mountains transports the listener to a different place and time, somewhere deep under a forest canopy on an unknown path leading to a majestic mountain vista somewhere above the clouds. The only thing keeping you going is knowing that things will only get better, because you never know what's waiting over the next hill. Like an all day adventure through the Canadian Rockies, the album hits many highs and lows, driving forward at a relentless, hypnotic pace that lures you into a timeless sense of space. Once again Segue delivers a collection of long ambient-dub tracks that are filled with just the right amount of melody to provoke the mind of a focused listener, or to provide a serene atmosphere to fill any space.

Lost in a Sea of Trees tells the tale of a lone traveller who enters a dark, ancient forest. Lured deep into the woods by something not of this world as he enters uncharted grounds. Step by step his journey is getting darker as he encounters strange phenomena and beings among the trees.

For the second Inveins birthday, we have picked the label founder of Silent Season, that we always followed with great inspiration for our project.
He's a model for all of us in every sides, musically and humanly.

Jamie McCue is a DJ and label head who lives a quiet life in the forests of British Columbia, Canada. He is the creative director and label head at Silent Season, a music label influenced by his natural surroundings. The sounds of Silent Season grew out of the connection between deep ethereal music and the rain forests of Vancouver Island. A soundtrack to some of the most radiant and aural beauty in the world. Jamie crafts long building sets, allowing the music to become a journey and unfold slowly. His sound explores the deep, psychedelic nature of techno, saturated with atmospheric ambience and dub sensibilities.

Silent Season have carried the music of Submersion and Mon0 independently before, but now the dub techno producers have teamed up to take their sound onto new plains of exploration. The sound palette is consistent with both their music and that of the label, but the familiar dancefloor tropes have been jettisoned in favour of a more meditative end result, leading in with the achingly beautiful tundra excursion of "Beginning Of The End". From there the album drifts with glacial motion through a range of finely crafted soundscapes, wielding a world of rumbling, harmonious noise in the middle distance without ever losing that seductive dub techno ambience.

Jamie McCue is a DJ and label head who lives a quiet life in the forests of British Columbia, Canada. 
He is the creative director and curator of Silent Season, a music label influenced by his natural surroundings. 
The sounds of Silent Season grew out of the connection between deep ethereal music and the rain forests of Vancouver Island. 
A soundtrack to some of the most radiant and aural beauty in the world. 
Jamie's sound explores the deep, psychedelic nature of techno, saturated with atmospheric ambience and dub sensibilities.

Campfire at the edge of the woods, close to the beach. All begins with a rain shower but suddenly the sky becomes cloudless. Lying on your back, watching the starlit sky, listening the campfire crackling, the sound of waves crashing to shore. You enter the imaginarium, dreaming of distant galaxies. Beyond starlit skies, beyond gravity, right to the point where the music takes over…everything.

~ About The Story ~

Orakei Korako “Place of Adorning” on the banks of the Waikato River, the ukaipo (birthplace) and principal papakainga of Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa. Tahu Matua travelled the lands in the rohe; it is here he placed himself. The area was abundant in kai sources, geothermal resources and in an ideal location situated on the banks of the Waikato River.

Orakei Korako has been an important settlement site of Ngati Tahu for many generations. The settlement of Orakei Korako consisted of a fortified pa on the left bank above the river and a living area on the flats beside the river amidst the geysers and hot pools.

Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa has a historical, cultural and contemporary association with geothermal resources within our traditional rohe. Such resources were used for cooking, drinking, bathing and healing. Large kainga and cultivations were often established around these taonga such as at Orakei Korako, Ohaaki and Waiotapu.

The geothermal landscape has changed over time, but the geysers, hot springs, bubbling mud pools and silica terraces remain within the geothermal park. Our taonga have cultural significance to our iwi, and under our care we ensure to remain kaitiaki of our whenua, natural resources and taonga. As kaitiaki ensuring to protect and restore this area is important to Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whaoa.

Alchemical

An organism glows
in this dark, dark room.
The light finds the cracks
in the walls

and stretches its languid arms
to enclose us, to hold us
against its vital pulse.
Tethered to a vibration

both familiar and unknown,
we are sent towards
a portal before
we are spit back into day—

kept close
until the night is done.
The heartbeat of the creature
then dissipates like cloud,

is alchemically transformed,
shifts shapes
like the shadow of fire
then finds its way

into our chests.
We carry our secrets
within them like lead,
lead that wants to be turned

into gold. It’s only a matter
of time before our chests
are unlocked.
When we open

each other up,
what’s underneath
spills out, and it is then
that we remember the pulse

Campfire Stories 70 (The Solace of Water) by Chryslsm

Edanticonf  [ Eclipsemusic / Silent Season ] Italy

After coming back from Hamburg to his home city Turin, Edoardo Zerbinati totally reorganized his life, together with setting up a new studio in the town.

Back in that cloudy, rainy, romantic place where he was initiated to the Techno music culture, he saw the release of his debut album on Silent Season and, after that, the label has been selected as “label of the month” by Resident Advisor.

Some months later, the canadian label also put out an Edanticonf’s EP with a remix by the mysterious Sweden producer Abdulla Rashim. This collaboration on a limited vinyl was charted in the Top Techno Chart by some of the most important vinyl shops through the world.

All the textures in this set are written and produced by Edoardo Zerbinati with using mainly analog equipment (additional production by Iori and Decoside, remixed by Edanticonf). A lot of pieces of music are unreleased or played in a live version and due to this reason it’s not possible to attach a complete track list. The man and the perception of the infinite are the main themes of his compositions; Techno music lends itself to this goal with the integration of sounds inspired by natural landscapes.

I remember voices from my childhood,
I look for a word that was never spoken.

The sea is calm, like the face of a child after dark night’s
unrest. I love its breathing, the movement of waves, like a
mother’s breath, are so loving that in the past they

put out the alarm, the storm, the fears of childhood
and now calm some future alarm and fears and storm
off the whole world’s coast. Yes, that was the moment I found

a word that had been spoken only once, maybe, or was never
spoken at all. All these storms are in me now, that’s
why I’m calm, I am the captain of all calmness, mother.

Adrift in the liberating, late light of summer, delicate, frivolous, they make their way to my front porch and flutter near the glassed-in bulb, translucent as a thought suddenly wondered aloud, illumining the air that's thick with honeysuckle and dusk. You and I are doing our best at conversation, keeping it light, steering clear of what we'd like to say.You leave, and the night becomes cluttered with moths, some tattered, their dumbly curious filaments startling against my cheek. How quickly, instinctively, I brush them away. Dazed, they cling to the outer darkness like pale reminders of ourselves. Others seem to want so desperately to get inside. Months later, I'll find the woolens, snug in their resting places, full of missing pieces. - Jennifer O'Grady

he sings songs between puffs of smokes,
about horror stories, fates and dreams.

I listen to the chilling crackle,
that lights my eyes in mini-fires.
and hum to the beat of the ukulele,
on the grass path with tracks of tires.

whistle of the ancient winds,
that tell stories of bears and poisonous pears.
the campfire singes down; cool and crisp,
