Red and Blue (2014)

First started in 2019, and then revisited in 2022/23. mastered for soundcloud in Sep 2024.

The original 'first thoughts' track was called 'dubby' - which gives you an idea of the kind of vibe going on.  

After the initial messing around in 2019, revisting the track again in 2022 - some vocals from loopcloud formed the core thought of the track - MV: 'is it going somewhere? FV 'baby, tell me where is this going?'.  the lyrics felt rather relevant.  after the near-full-life-collapse of the pandemic and then the death of my mother, I was now in a position where job, life, family etc. seemed solid and stable.  the trouble was:  looking forward there was nothing but wide open space / time.  the only plan - to keep going and stay above water.  

"it's a good plan.  the only thing wrong with it? it involves you." [thanks to those always-giving mafia movie dialogues for the sample].  

i wasn't stressed or depressed.  but I can't say that i was happy either.  I'd accepted downgrades in every aspect of my life vs. 2019 - as they were huge upgrades vs. 2020 without a job.  but now i didn't know where I was going, why or whether anybody was actually coming along with me for the journey.   

the track ends with a key change into optimism and positivity.  tempered by a caustic sample noting that "one day we'll get him back".  indeed.  and then "everything's going to be ok, darling".

putting this up in Sep 2024.  is it better.  maybe.  there's a direction and a goal.  let's see.
