I constantly feel like I'm rushing towards the inevitable infinitive oblivion and time is an unstoppable juggernaut that is draining away exponentially. It's therefore important to me that I fill that time with joyous, creative acts. Exploring the creative process in all it's facets and sharing of ideas are an essential part of that, which brings us to 'faze'.

On 'but then, yes', Michael further expands his sound, as the song dovetails between almost impenetrable vast walls of fuzz, to shimmering dreamy passages building to a devastating crescendo. The track also features vocals from AJ Das of Dublin shoegazers, Picture Postcard. Lyrically the song delves into the evolution of connection between people over time, from plutonic to romantic and into something deeper, capturing the electricity as emotions experience that slow but seismic shift.

Michael Smyth is the sole contributor in Silk, responsible for the writing, performing and recording of all the music. On third single 'july' we find him at his most focused and realised to date. Previous singles were recorded as experiments which ultimately led to the birth of the project, but on 'july' we hear the first single recorded with the intention of being released as part of the project. Building upon and refining the sound presented on previous releases.

When it came time to mix and master the track, Michael turned to Allan McGreevy (New Pagans) to help bring the track to life. The result marries the wall of sound, and etheral textures of shoegaze with an 90's alternative rock punchiness.
