For Silky Session 05, we’re thrilled to be welcoming our dear friend Craig Ouar to the turn tables. Our first romance with his music selection was at a festival in Brazil back in 2018. But we truly got to know each other when he a year later flew over to Europe for the closing set, delivering a vibrating dance-floor, at one of our annual Silky Tunes parties in Amsterdam. 

Originating from Nice, Craig Ouar, moved to Paris to perfect his musical skills. But fascinated by Brazilian culture and its music, he soon left France and moved to his new home, Rio de Janeiro. There, he is the founder of DOMPLY, an organisation currently hosting some of the  most influential music events in the city. He is also a familiar name across Brazil’s and South America’s DJ and music scene. 

There are few people on this planet that collects as unique, exciting and bizarre music as Craig Ouar. Captivated by vinyl records, he’s been meticulously building up a record collection for years. Spending his time in Brazil has naturally also made him one of the most known collectors of Brazilian music. 

In his Silky Session, Craig Ouar takes us on a slick journey through genres ranging from Miami Bass and freestyle to electro and popping Favela Funk sourced directly from his home in Rio de Janeiro. ENJOY!!

Globetrotters, time travelers, fun seekers, vinyl diggers, dance lovers… Many are the types of beings that thrive in this sonic culture of ours, finding shelter and happiness in this sensorial and emotional universe fostered by musical communion. And the creatures therein are more than just characters, they comprise the fauna and flora of these aural environments in which we dwell and revel, sustaining it with both their projects and their passion. Take the magnificent French trio known as Bayetë for example, an autonomous ecosystem of discovery and debauchery that strives to create the perfect conditions for our enjoyment of the treasures they find in their excursions across the world. A noble purpose that is so powerful that it does not solely rely on the collective's togetherness to exist, each of its members carry that same seminal drive in everything they do individually. Something we can perfectly perceive in this episode of Gop Cast where Simon, one of its members who recently relocated to São Paulo, manages to encapsulate the eclectic excellence of their musical abundance in a stellar mix of moods, grooves and everything in between.

Right when you thought the 80's had been mostly dug out, the "Night City Life" compilation hits the shelves. 
Ever since we heard his compilation for Spacetalk we were blown away: one of the best curations of early MIDI dancefloor/radio oriented productions we'd heard in a while. Truly refreshing to the human ear, not to mention the heavy research behind it. As such, we've wanted to book Ilan ever since but then COVID happened. Still a wet dream to see him do his thing live but for now here's this amazing bit of aural goodness to get you in the right mindset. 

Ilan is a London-based record collector. He can often be found posting the artwork of 80s vinyl from his collection on Instagram; a patchwork of nostalgia from musical days gone by.

BOA VIDA always means the sounds of 80's to me so this mix is a big nod to beautiful sounds and story telling of the 80's with a hint of early 90s too. 

BOA VIDA translates to GOOD life and thats exactly what I've found in Lisboa, moving here was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my whole life . A city I really love and big thank you to all the Portuguese who have looked after me and welcomed me and not made fun of my awful butchering of the language xx
