We’re thrilled to present one of the most exciting names in Brazil, and, increasingly worldwide. A true selector, that prides herself in deep musical research and showing the world incredible music, new and old: Barbara Boeing.

Barbara has transformed the music scene of hometown of Curitiba with her Alter Disco nights; breaking the social paradigms and encouraging freedom of expression on the dance floor and beyond. Her prowess behind the decks has allowed her to share her musical passion with European audiences, notably a Boiler Room debut at Nuits Sonores and joyful set at Lente Kabinet.

Barbara Boeing’s Bside exemplifies her rising notoriety; with tasteful selections spanning from the deep and moody, to the synth disco, to the signature sunny sounds of Brazil.

Who the hell is Donna Tony, you might ask. Well, he is not fully sure either. In a way, he is the new kid on the block. In another, he is an ancient figure having been deeply involved in the music scene, hosted parties and DJ sessions in Amsterdam and Sweden, for many years as the founder of Silky Tunes. 

Born in Sweden and delivered to the world by a Finnish mother, the first seeds of Donna Tony and his label Silky Tunes, were sown deep into the colorful jungles of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016. Influenced by his journey throughout Brazilian landscapes, his time in Copenhagen and Amsterdam, Silky Tunes quickly grew into a party and music label in its own right, and the perfect platform for Donna Tony to keep up with his roaming spirit for the rest of his life.

Like all good things in life, everything comes back full circle. In his sets, Donna Tony draws on his passion for indigenous cultures and spiritual contexts, especially influenced by productions picked up from the southern hemisphere. Drawing from a playful mixture of 90’s transcendental house, disco, boogie, and overall wavy and floaty cues, a typical Donna Tony set is built on the balance between the dark and the bright side of dance music - always produced with a gentle touch of Donna and a punch of Tony.

Jan Schülte, AKA Bufiman is a producer and DJ from Dusseldorf.

Having released countless records under various aliases, Jan Schülte continues to push the envelope as an artist. He has released on many labels, such as Dekmantel, Music For Dreams, Verein Freier Menschen und Musik and many more.

His back catalogue also contains recordings under his alias Wolf Müller, and spans genres and tempos. His sound can be described as Psychedelic, dubby grooves with mind-bending samples and rhythms.

His latest release on Dekmantel, titled ‘Albumsi’, is his debut LP as Bufiman. It is his first record since leaving his day job of 11 years, freeing up time to focus on his music without external pressure.

Tune into his International Tribe mix for an hour of psychedelic, chugging electronics.

Bárbara Boeing is part of an exciting wave of innovative Brazilian artists who have been catching our eyes and ears. She is about to embark on the next chapter of her career by making the move to Europe. With big changes afoot, we wanted to catch up with an avidity to hear about her motivations and feelings making such a move in this tumultuous period. Whilst also having a general catch up on her musical path, evolution as an artist and what the future holds.

Furthermore, we were delighted when she agreed to join the mix series and beautifully captured a very personal mood she has been experiencing these recent months. Enchanting downtempo stuff brimming with intriguing rhythms and melodies.
