Fuse 2015 (Birthday Party) (Exclusive)

This is a recording i was asked to do for ' The Docks' exhibition last year, presented by Melbourne City Council and Melbourne Raves.
The mix was used in the listening pods at the Melbourne Docklands Library.
The set is an Ambient excursion, and a reminder that after a night at a docks party when ears would ring from hard beats, there would come a time for chillout.
All vinyl set.

Up next is all round Mr Nice Guy, Melbourne based MATIC aka Carlos Nascimento. If you're from Melbourne and your thing is going to quality gigs, then you've probably met this guy on the dance floor. He goes to absolutely everything!

By way of Curitiba, Brazil and with stints in Amsterdam and Barcelona, MATIC is one of Melbourne's most gifted deck technicians. His early influences was the experimental electronica of Warp, the industrial funk of Surgeon and Downwards and the hypnotic minimalism of Richie Hawtin. Equally influential were his formative DJ years in Amsterdam at the turn of the Millennium where he was exposed to sets from locals like Steve Rachmad as well as a multitude of elite techno DJs constantly visiting the Netherlands like Surgeon, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke and Richie Hawtin.

With a record collection spanning over 15 years of crate digging, each set is craftily constructed by building layer upon layer of forward thinking electronic music. Thanks to  his track selection and mixing skills, MATIC has slowly but consistently built a solid reputation amongst his peers in the Melbourne scene over the years.

This mix is a personal journey through the Techno spectrum with tracks, artists and styles that have shaped his electronic music taste for the last 20 years. However, he didn't want it to be a mix full of classics only. His aim was to add a local taste and keep it fresh with a good balance between the past and the future.

Closing out a quality day party at My Aeon, playin’ after Artefakt, who served us up some ‘proper’ live techno - fat, fresh, fully engaged and quite frankly a-may-ZING! (Tough act to follow is putting it mildly... ;) 

Stellar beats were delivered by all concerned (technical glitches aside) - onya Lance Harrison, Dave Stuart, Trinity and (stalwart emergency substitute) Dave Mummery. 

And to the Silo and Nightime Drama crews for their sterling efforts in putting on the whole shebang - full respect; and the venue staff for hosting - cheers. Not to mention all the friendly punters who came along - you guys rocked it :D

Excellent mix from iFormat aka Joseph McGeechan, with nearly 2hrs of all his own material, some unreleased.

Joseph McGeechan began his career in 2008 as one half of the BCR Boys they released on their own Backwater
Community Recordings label and also on Perc Trax. With further releases on Synewave and Sleaze, 2011 saw them
headline both Berlin heavyweights, Tresor and Berghain.
His solo project iFormat has a darker, more aggressive, industrial sound. Heavily influenced by the sinister and eerie
soundscapes of sci-fi and horror movies, these give a disturbing sense of foreboding to McGeechan’s dystopian, postpunk
exploration of the decay of society.
