Today, we're proud to release the second track from Rainbow Chan's Long Vaction Remix EP.  Forever a staple of the Sydney techno tidal wave, Cassius Select (Lavurn Lee) has reworked fellow Sydney-sider Rainbow Chan's "Milk".  The remix smears Chan's delicate original across six minutes, taking a loose, improvisational feel.  In trademark style, Lee systematically pulls the beat from under the track, aesthetically rearranging it's pieces in way that is always surprising, yet never depriving to the listener.  The remix combines sparse melodic fragments of the original with a driving percussion, before gradually morphing into a warm afterglow.

Rainbow's remix EP is due out on the 18th of February via Australia's Silo Arts & Records, also featuring interpretations from Thomas William, Swimming, Moon Holiday and Nick Zinner.

It’s going to be a big year for Tincture’s Luke Dalton. He's back with the follow up single from his forthcoming EP, “Tryst”, which is set to cement his place in the scene as a force to be reckoned with.

Similar Circles represents a progression in his sound, borrowing influence from acts like Shelter Point and The Knife, yet never forsaking his penchant for lush synth and sharp percussion. At it's heart, Similar Circles grapples with the fear of stagnation through routine. Though you can feel a sense of yearning, the track never quite reaches the anxious resolve it strives for - "repeating, repeating, repeating until the same things come back again".

Following his stellar drop with Feral Media late last year, and his Tincture remix - today Nakagin is releasing Pines, the first single and track list from his new EP.

An exercise in restraint, subtlety and ambience, Pines perfectly embodies the thesis of the EP.  The track pulses with a delicate hip hop rhythm, ducking and weaving through the thick ambience higher in the frequency range.

Taking cues from Arca, Tycho or Taku, the Nakagin EP is a collection of five symmetrical meditations, that almost feel more designed than written.  The tracklist is as follows:

To celebrate the release of our highly sought after solid yellow vinyl for Rainbow Chan’s Long Vacation EP, we’re proud to release her new single, “Fruit”.  Also the bonus track for the 12”, Fruit is an upbeat, casiotone heavy pop track, marking the singer’s strongest vocal performance to date.

The video is directed by Ellie Graham, and features fellow Sydney musician Lavurn Lee (Black Vanilla / Guerre / Cassius Select).  Filmed in a supermarket - the clip perfectly compliments the vibrant, playful collage of sounds Rainbow has become known for.

Rainbow has been busy performing at New Zealand’s Camp A Low Hum, Baths’ Sydney date, and “Since I Left You”; an Avalanches inspired collaboration lead by Sydney’s Jonti.  Be sure to catch it during Sydney’s Vivd Live, presented by sydney pals Astral People.

To celebrate our newest signing, Melbourne's Planète (Dion Tartaglione), we're releasing his remix of Tincture's Similar Circles.  The track borrows just enough, pouring the original across 8 minutes, with a renewed enthusiasm and gusto.  Consistent with his earlier work, Dion's remix blends distance with sharp and persistent percussion, never straying too far from his core direction.

Helix / Två Fontäner, like his previous release, Snow Sketch / Visions, is a 17+ minute slow burning exploration of ambience and rhythm.  Taking cues from the likes of Floating Points, Four Tet and Beacon, the tracks melt Tartaglione's specific brand of atmosphere with a well rounded beat.

Like the shape of it's namesake, Helix twists clanging melodic lines around a mess of white noise and a persistent backbeat.  The track eventually evolves to calm with a sidestick, allowing Två Fontäner's energetic intro and droning background to follow.

Helix / Två Fontäner is the first of a number of releases this year for Planète - who looks to solidify his status as one of Australia's most intriguing producers over the coming months.
