Today we’re so excited and truly humbled to announce our next release as the return of Rory Attwell’s primary recording project Warm Brains. 

A couple of years have carved their way into the history books since his well received debut ‘Old Volcanoes’ first landed on our record players. Attwell certainly has been busy since he last stamped his name onto a release of ours (New Year Evil, ‘Shame’ AIH002) - if he isn’t busy pursuing his own material or discreetly wielding an axe onstage with Parlour then he’ll be found busting Brattwell balls at his nautical studio Lightship95. Whether it’s friends of ours like Tyrannosaurus Dead, Gum, Bloody Knees and the aforementioned NYE or larger players such as Yuck, Male Bonding, Big Deal, Paws, Veronica Falls … we could continue to list our favourite bands all afternoon.

As you will hear above, nostalgia runs through the very veins of lead track ‘Happy Accidents’. From the kitchen-sink’esque description of an afternoon spent with relatives to the call and answer chime of the lead guitar part. There’s something distinctly 90’s about the track; whether it’s the mention of “Saturday grandstand” or the fact that this sounds exactly how I wish Blur sounded at the time.

A couple of years holed up in a studio with an ever-eager set of the countries finest bands has made room for a wealth of influences displayed across the EP’s further 3 tracks (Flowers Arranged, Two Fingered Salute, Crooked Etymology). This means there’s plenty more surprises to come ahead of the EP’s release on 16th December 2013. Expect guest vocals, haunting piano, discordant guitar melodies and lots more.

To tie in with all the talk of Saturday afternoons of the 90’s, we will be putting out the release as a ‘football-style’ scarf as well as a beautifully presented cassette. You can view images of both as well as pre-order the package over on our shop p.s. they’re limited to 100!

Recorded by Rory Attwell (The Vaccines, Male Bonding) at London’s Lightship95, MAN THE FALCONS will cement the reputation of a band whose first single earlier this year was greeted as one of the hottest debuts of 2012.

Melding noise rock, post punk and psychedelia, SILVER ARM bring an unhinged noise of savage proportions, stripped of all fat and as direct as a dancing pink laser wasp sting to the eyeball.

SILVER ARM’s music explores the darkest hinterlands: the ill winds that drift through the backwaters and copses of England; the insane monks that rise from the dead to bring darkness to the living; the lost walkers wandering crazed across sun-blasted moors; the roadside shipwrecks; the grinning, insane morning drinkers and their mothers.

Silver Arm are a British four piece who are currently working on their debut album. They are influenced by "Bedfordshire woodpecker, early 80s American hardcore, British post punk, fictional languages, heavy metal, The Supremes, the building of pyramids, The Stooges, Devo, tales of rural terror both historical and current, The Mothers Of Invention, The 13th Floor Elevators, the traditional biscuit and shoe-making industries, Fugazi and Sonic Youth..."

They define this week's featured demo track Dead Tongues as "an unhinged blast of intense psychedelic noise; a two-minute storm that will have your fists in the air while it melts your mind and rips off your face like a machine-gun toting horse."

Silver Arm - Dead Tongues

Since forming in 2012, Silver Arm have released three tracks which have all been played by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music, as well as picking up radio play from the likes of Tom Robinson and others. In 2013 the band's 'Dead Tongues' was a featured track on Fat Cat Records' site, garnering over 10,000 listens in one month, and they have also received acclaim from the likes of Artrocker, The Needle Drop and The 405. Members have previously played in bands including the Mercury Prize-nominated Maps.

The band's influences include the heavy frigid air that drifts through the copses and lanes of England, the beautiful green central Bedfordshire woodpecker, fictional languages, hybrid beasts, the building of pyramids, tales of rural terror both historical and current, and the exploration of new continents and planets.
