This track got an update because we're taking Alphys in a new direction. Rather than the previous (and frankly very typical) route of making her anime-themed, samurai-themed, or both, this Alphys is neither of those.
In this timeline, a bunch of anime never showed up in the dump. What showed up instead were cheesy old workout tapes. Through these, Alphys picked up two things:
1. The willpower to overcome low self-confidence with exercise and self-improvement
2. A sense of culture forever trapped in the 80s.
So yeah, this is synthwave Alphys. The buffest reptile.

The dialogue is from the Monster Kid replacement. The role of Monster Kid is taken by a curious young nerdy skeleton by the name of Aster. His speech tends to come in patterns of three. How curious.

Now he's callous, cutthroat, and arrogant as hell. He may have had innocent dreams of becoming an actor at one point, but becoming a crypto bro will derail all of your dreams.

Since Toby first utilized the idea of "amalgamates" in his EarthBound: Halloween Hack, I figured it'd be good to swap out some motifs from EB:HH's ending for this song.

As a fun little factoid, the original Amalgam samples a bit of the vocals from "Deirdre" by the Beach Boys for its main instrument ("The Place" from EarthBound did this first, which is why UT did it at all, but it's the same instrument nonetheless). So in this, the main instrument is a different classic rock vocal sample: this one being from AC/DC's "Highway to Hell," which is about as different of a classic rock song as you can get.

So here it is. After a year and a half, it's the Megalo for BelowExchange. We know that it stands in the shadow of an infinite amount of Underswap Megalos, and maybe after all this waiting and buildup some of you might be disappointed that it's not some six-minute END OF ALL THINGS homage or something. All I'll say is that we didn't treat this track like it was more special than anything else. Toadie put as much love into this as they did into Beatdown, Den Mother, Camaraderie, The Next Waterworld, Temwhistle...
We treat all tracks equally, so we hope you can all love this one equally too. Thank you for all the support everyone, we've still got some stuff left, but it's been a great ride :)
