Eso es lo que nos trae el productor Holandés-Canadiense apauli, quien proviene de la escena rock reconvertido al techno, es ahora uno de los productores con mejor proyección del 2024. Esperamos con ansias este nuevo largo titulado Fought and Won.

The Horizont EP is a collaboration between dutch-canadian techno producer apaull and Detroit’s “Prince of Techno”, Blake Baxter.

apaull (www.apaull.com) is a dutch-canadian electronic music producer and DJ, focusing mostly on techno and house genres. With 16 releases over the last two years, on his furnace room records label, apaull has worked with the likes of John Selway, Abe Duque, Neil Landstrumm, Christian Smith, Dave Clarke and now Blake Baxter on various aspects of his musical project. 

“I’m trying to create the best art that I can. Working with these industry stalwarts has been a great way to learn, propel me forward and create my own sound.” says apaull.

Blake Baxter is a Detroit Techno music pioneer, one of the originators of the Detroit Techno music sound. He is a heavy hitter with unmistakable provenance. Blake was part of the first wave of House and Techno music DJs and producers from Detroit. He has released on notable record labels including Underground Resistance and Tresor. He has worked with a variety of producers over the years on musical collaborations and you can hear his unmistakable sound that comes out in every production.

“It has been my great honor to work with Blake on this EP. I think we have been able to neatly package our two approaches and musical aesthetics into a pleasing outcome.” says apaull.

The track is about finding your horizon (or horizont in german) and using this, like an old school sailor would, to chart your path. There are pitfalls, traps and devastation along the way. That adversity is a chisel, that like water coursing through a fast-running stream, shapes you and the path you are on, which unfortunately is never directly from to point A to point B.

The EP includes four unique mixes of this track. 

1.	Horizont (with Greg Stafford) (Ypsi 3.3 B.A.M mix)
A driving bass-line and stabby keys pushes this techno, with hazy shades of electro, track into Baxter’s trademark vocals, commingling with apaull’s more disembodied vocals. “I don’t know, but, I’ve been told. Find the horizon before you get old.”

2.	Horizont (Trapped mix)
The “Trapped” mix imagines that you are stuck and trapped. What do you do then and how do you find your horizon? Dipped in acid vibes, this track emotes urgency and confinement. Claustrophobia, in this instance spells paralysis; resilience and determination lead to the freedom that can be found just over the horizon.

The “All In” and “Instrumental” mixes deliver pure Detroit old school vibes or as Abe Duque puts it: “The good sh*t”. The “All In mix” features the estuarine blending of Baxter’s soothing vocals with apaull’s more dismal intonations over crystalline beats. The “Instrumental mix” strips all this way so you can just groove to the vibe.

London, Canada based electronic music producer apaull releases the single “Alphabet Loop” single along with a Christian Smith remix.
“Alphabet Loop” is the first single from apaull’s second album „Homogeny“ set to be released in February 2025. This first teaser includes a hypnotic techno Christian Smith remix.
apaull: „The track “Alphabet Loop” was conceived during an Amsterdam Dance Event, where I pulled together a full demo, including vocals, in my hotel room.
It is about the vagaries of (mis)-communication. The lyrics “I’ve got all the letters. Can’t find the words” can be construed in many ways, from the literal to the more abstract. Today I might re-write the vocals to “I’ve got all the letters. Not allowed to write the words”, so censorship-laden are the times.“
Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading exponents of techno, both as a DJ and producer he is always bold and innovative. In 1995 he started his label Tronic, and since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna and Drunken Kong. The label has been the top-selling techno label in the world according to Beatport and recently celebrated its 500th release. Christian has dominated the charts and DJ’s playlists with a steady flow of releases on many high-profile labels like Drumcode, Filth On Acid, Trick, Symbolism, Bedrock, and Tronic.
The “Homogeny” cover lettering is by famed Brooklyn based artist Al Diaz. At 15 he was the recognized subway graffiti artist known as „BOMB-ONE.“ His friend- ship and collaboration with schoolmate Jean-Michel Basquiat on SAMO®.(an Avant- garde graffiti project), and the iconic hip-hop record, „Beat Bop“ are noted in
contemporary art history.

The track “Anti Science” explores the dissonance between truth and mis-information. While history is written by victors, truth is now presented by those in charge, as some sort of inviolate command and control aria. Those that question or disagree with the “truth” are treated rather malevolently. Quickly labelled and undermined, as if truth has only one fixed perspective and must not, in the moment, be allowed to evolve.

As always, it takes you immediately to the dance floor where you can dance away and find your own truth. Neil Landstrumm has released records on a wide variety of electronic music’s’ finest labels over the last three decades and is one of the true innovators in techno and electronic beats. “Distorted Information” is the fourth single from dutch-canadian electronic music producer apaull’s second album, Homogeny. The 9 track LP was released on 28 February 2025, was executive produced by Abe Duque and is on the furnace room records label. apaull’s Original mix is accompanied by shorter Radio edit version and an on-point Mexico meets Berlin techno remix, by Signal Deluxe. 

Science, how it is practiced and how it is reported, has changed considerably over the last fifty years. Produced as the embers of the pandemic began to extinguish, the track is built around a sample of a public official declaring “We own the science” and reflects on how science (and academia in general) has once again been captured for political and otherwise unscholarly purposes. Musically, the track is built around a staccato baseline, feedback infused keys and string-like melody, with the aforementioned sample driving home the point. 

Signal Deluxe, formed by Valeria Rueda (Lila D.) and Jerónimo Puente (Jerga), is a cornerstone of Mexico’s electronic music scene. Since 2005, they’ve crafted a unique blend of experimental house and spacey techno, earning international recognition for their deep, atmospheric soundscapes. Their prolific output includes releases on labels like Get The Curse and their own Blaq Records, where they’ve championed both their music and Mexico’s underground. Tracks like Seaweed Smoker and the Demon Hipster EP exemplify their dynamic range and global appeal. 

Renowned for their electrifying performances, Signal Deluxe has held residencies at Berlin’s Bar25 and Golden Gate while playing festivals like Fusion and Tresor. Valeria, a trailblazer for female producers, and Jerga, a veteran of Mexico’s vinyl era, continue to shape electronic music’s evolution. Their legacy lies not just in their music but in the vibrant community they’ve built around it.
