Rugged electronic disco label Blindetonation welcomes a new producer to the fray for their fifth EP. That man is the fast rising Alejandro Molinari, a Venezuelan producer, singer, guitar player and DJ from Caracas who serves up six scintillating tracks of fine machine music.

Molinari uses analog and acoustic devices to create his fully formed sounds and integrates lo-fi samples of songs, speeches, interviews, field recordings and films too giving them a conceptual and cultural edge. With a passion for blending the synthetic and the organic, he has already impressed on Onerpm and does so again here.

Excellent opener ‘Break the Bricks’ is five minutes of corrugated synths, undulating rubber bass and carefully uttered male vocals that lend a human touch to the abstract sounds all around. ‘StereoMatches’ is slower and more trippy, with freewheeling synths riding up and down the scales whilst slap funk drums bring the infectious groove below.

‘Peso Muerto’ is deeper and more stripped back, with elastic drums and meandering sine waves making for a rather haunted and excellent atmosphere, then ‘Human Machine’ layers up fat drums and plodding bass stabs with twinkling keys and dehumanised vocals that make for a brilliantly robotic groove. ‘Machine Experience’ is then back to direct dance floor action with driven kicks, cosmic energy and prickly percussion making you sit up and take note before this well formed EP closes with the expertly menacing and industrial disco darkness of ‘Thanda.’

This is robust and inventive stuff that will jerk dance floors in to action and very much continues Blindetonation’s fine run of form.

The street was dark and the light faint. The three stood menacingly gathered around a chair as the orange glow cast a hazy fuzz over the concrete. The moon was ever so white this evening, it shone brightly amidst the stars up above. Watching over the world it looked down in a sense of constant disbelief at the chaos which had begun to unfold on planet earth. Meanwhile the three gathered around the chair remained oblivious to the collapse of mankind. They quite simply moved under the beam from above in a consistent repetitive pattern. 

There is little known to the identity of V. He releases on Nautilus Rising, the record label run by the infamous Sub Club. Three tracks of jacking house you might typically expect to hear in the club on a Saturday night.

Debut Ep of Andrem, the new solo project of Andrés Gomez, better known for being 50% of Mexican duo FLXXX, who released two years ago what still is one of Playpal's favorite Ep's on the catalogue and has also released music under the alias 'Ands Mega'. The title track of the Ep, 'Ascensión', is a dancefloor banger, club tested throughout this year and as is often the case nowadays, it’s reminiscent of the 90’s but leaves you feeling it’s a ahead of it’s time. 'Side B' 'Vendetta' is a dub and dark mental track that will do some damage both in the early hours of the night and the morning. On remix duties we have Rigopolar, whose track 'Numbskin' on Play Pal's five year compilation was one of the most charted, and this time he has delivered an absolute killer remix of 'Ascensión', with endless synth mental sequences. Next up is french producer daWad, part of the well known La Dame Noir crew, who also released a very welcome Ep on Play Pal alongside his partner Mokic. He’s taken the track in a completely different direction but equally effective on the dancefloor, with a broken beat constantly pushing the track from beginning to end. Play Pal Music honcho, Teniente Castillo, turned 'Vendetta' into an orgy of guitars, both electric and acoustic, with a fat synth as the conductive element throughout the entire track, whilst retaining the 'suspense' film flavour of the original version. Then finally we're happy to welcome to the label Lithuanian duo Roe Deers, who took the darkness of 'Vendetta' a step further, adding a sick arpeggio when you least expect it, making it one of our favourite remixes.
