2002-2022, that’s 20 years of Pingipung! HHV Records from Berlin made an interview with me for a nice feature on their blog and asked me for a selection of Pingipung tracks as well. Mme Bing こと Andrea Wienck は熱心なレコード・コレクターで動物愛護家。彼女はレコード店で勤務する傍ら10年以上Pingipungレーベルを共同運営してきた。生々しくダークなメロディを丁寧に選ぶ彼女のセットはレアながら一聴に値する。ストリングス、ギター、メランコリーなメロディが交差するこのミックスはMme Bing 曰く「文鎮のようなハート」。Mme Bing はごろごろと鳴く猫を胸の上において聞く事を勧めています。


We're excited about VDS Podcast Nr.022 - our last VDS Podcast for the year of 2022! Closing this amazing year with a seasonal atmospherical string-packed journey is none other than one of the heads behind the legendary Pingipung label, Mme Bing from Hamburg, Germany.

Mme Bing, aka Andrea Wienck, is a passionate vinyl collector. She has honed her musical taste while co-running the Pingipung label for over a decade, as well as by working in record shops. She prefers her melodies raw and gloomy, and she selects them very carefully - it’s a rare but always delightful moment to catch her live at the decks.

Dive into this beauty of strings, guitars and melancholic melodies, which Mme Bing herself calls “The heart as a paperweight”. Mme Bing recommends listening to this set with a purring cat on your chest.

DJ Fog Puma aka Jean-Marie Dhur was infected by the post-punk, 2-tone and reggae virus at the age of 14, and soon acquired a solid collection of copied cassettes and mixtapes by trading with friends. A few years and some tangled cassette tapes later - initiated by the discovery of New Order's ‘Technique’ album - came the second epiphany in the form of Chicago house, Detroit techno, and communal euphoric dance experiences. Both spheres eventually merged into a preference for hypnotic, rhythmic, dubby, minimalist sounds with a counter-cultural and leftfield attitude. The affinity for this is still reflected in Fog Puma's DJ sets, which move along atmospheres rather than clearly defined genre boundaries. In addition to his dance sets, he also likes to play calmer music, which he presents monthly in the show Abendlandung on Cashmere Radio. And he is co-owner of the specialist bookshop Zabriskie in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

The source of inspiration for a Fog Puma mix are the sounds that are created incessantly by the countless great non-conformist, creative and experimental musicians worldwide - as well as moods that are generated by experiencing and connecting with plants, animals, landscapes, skies, weather and other natural phenomena. The mix for LiO is also inspired by the sounds on the chill-out floors of the 90s, which were mandatory for a proper rave back then.

LIO Press mix #24 ~ by Fog Puma · 'No Bounds'

The first track of the compilation “Juodkrantė” - which is the name of the little, calm village of Neringa, where I was spending the summer of 2024. I created it together with my friend Paulius aka Sesija, when he came to visit me to the village in the end of the summer season. I can clearly remember what a beautiful and calm day it was, the whole nature rested fully, no singe wave or wind were present, just the sun and peace. I hope we managed to translate that feeling into the music sounds.
