The 2nd single from Michael Baker's forthcoming album ' How Come You Sleep'
Album - Due Out Feb 2021. 
‘Caught in the Crossfire’ is the 2nd single from the forthcoming (recorded in Lockdown) 3rd studio album and is FFO Gregory Alan Isakov, Sufjan Stevens and Devendra Banhart. This album was recorded during this lockdown period 2019 #ClassofAWAL/TGE supported artist Michael Baker has been in the same house as long time friend & Lucy Rose Multi-Instrumentalist and band member Andrew Stuart Buttle. They have used this period to write, record & produce a 10 track album, the Album is mixed by ‘Aldous Harding credited Oliver Baldwin and is the follow up to 8.9 out of 10 Atwood reviewed sophomore album ‘Salt’ which was only released in March this year, a testimony to how prolific Michael is an artist and songwriter and he has already been in to record album 4 with Luke Potashnick (Tom the Lion, Alberta Cross) due out early 2021

Michael says on this track;
‘’Sitting in lockdown thinking how can anything be so hard, so easy, so incredibly sad and so fucking beautiful.As with most of my songs I wrote it feeling sad and looking to the light. I sat up in bed just before sleeping and the whole thing came out in one go. The next day i recorded the whole thing down pretty much as you hear it on the record. For the piano part i wanted to take musicality out of it, so with my hands on the right notes i actually blindfolded myself and felt my way through the track.’’
 
‘’It’s about being caught up in it all obviously and about how one moment of kindness spreads like the roots of a tree… & that colour can change your view and make you look out differently. 
‘you can paint it red, i can paint it blue, these colours change the view.’ The album created is my favourite I’ve done so far & i cant wait to get it out into the world.’’

📖 About the song:
Even though Colin had been writing his own music for three years, music was still something of a hidden side to his personality. His own parents hadn't even heard any of his original songs prior to the release of his debut single. 

After joining up with independant label Poxy Records. Colin took the leap of faith in to the music world with the release of Basket Of Clementines.

"To the Waves" is about going with the flow of life, so we can discover new horizons while following our heart. The song was inspired by a trip to the Baltic Sea this summer. At home, I am surrounded by the trees of the Black Forest day and night. Everything is changing all the time, but surrounded by the woods can make you feel like you've lost your movement. Before this trip to the sea, I knew I want to change something in my music and life in general and being at the coast and cold water has helped me to clear my mind and make space for new ideas to come.

This song started as a melody I had in my head while spending some time outside. I went home and quickly recorded a demo, but I liked the demo enough I used it for the final release! It is about my wife and how thankful I am for her. If I have learned anything it's that I don't know much, but I do know that I love her.
