On April 17 Hedonism return with ‘Why Don’t You Say’, a deep vocal cut from their own label head, DJ and producer Simion. Armed with some stellar remixes from Pete Tong favourite Johannes Brecht and Betoko.

Kicking off with Simion’s original mix, ‘Why Don’t You Say’ is a deep house bomb bursting with a funky tech bassline, captivating melodies and a soothing vocal line that builds to the harmonious breakdown. Before the Johannes Brecht and Betoko remixes take Simion’s original into darker territories.

Marking a triumphant return to his label, Simion’s previous releases on Hedonism include his massive remix of Ben Pearce's 'What I Might Do', and 2014’s U&I. He’s also enjoyed success with a host of releases on other labels including Off Recordings and Suara, where most recently he dropped the acclaimed ‘Give You Love (The Piano)’.

Florian Kruse settled in the German capital Berlin and is no stranger to the city's infamous underground clubs, e.g. Watergate, Ritter Butzke amongst others. As one half of renowned producer duo Kruse & Nuernberg upcoming productions are scheduled for release on Noir Music and Exploited Records.

Hot on the heels of the smash release from Superlover, MOTHER RECORDINGS welcome back SIMION to the label with his THE RHYTHM EP. SIMION presents two cuts of upfront house music that are prime for the dancefloor.

First up is title-track, ‘The Rhythm’, a nod to the 90s Chicago sound with jacking drums and a sensual female vocal. Backed up by a funk-fuelled bassline and a lush piano breakdown that lead into a deep house groove.

The B-side ‘Feeling Good’ is true to its title. Tight percussion, chopped vocals and a catchy synth line all come together in a fluttering climax. This one is sure to leave any dancefloor shaking.

MOTHER RECORDINGS launch into 2019 with a dream collaborative release from PAOLO MARTINI and SIMION. Having both released on the imprint previously with solo EPs, as well as a combined back catalogue spanning Repopulate Mars, Emerald City Music and Snatch, the pair come together in fine form blending their rich tech house sounds offering up two slick cuts.

’That Sound’ kicks things off with a soulful vocal which glides over a pulsing bass line and rolling tech drums. Flurries of percussive elements add to the infectious groove.

On the flip, ‘Hustle Jam’ is a genius blend of disco sampling and club focussed house music, filtered horns and guitar grip a hold of you from the first hit, sending you on what is bound to be a dance filled journey.

The beaked being returns with the third in the series of Fantast remix EPs, once again offering a collection of dancefloor-focussed reworks from some of his current favourite producers.

The third chapter features reinterpretations from former Trouw resident Patrice Bäumel and Off Recordings mainstay Simion. 

In an album campaign that has already seen remixes from Franky Rizardo, NiCe7, Super Flu, Tensnake, David Penn, Pirupa, Cassius, Lee Foss, Catz N’ Dogz, MK and Lindstrom, Mihalis Safras, Eagles & Butterflies & Prins Thomas, the third EP has maintained the momentum and picked up where the first left off. 

Claptone is a unique proposition in modern music. Painted as a mythical character shrouded in mystery, Claptone has become one of the biggest names in electronic music whilst himself remaining in the shadows. He has however constantly sought to deepen his own distinctive world, creating a rich tapestry, which tells the Claptone story.

In his second artist album ‘Fantast’, the Claptone universe is at its deepest and most vivid. He is the master of his domain and in his most artful offering yet, the assured 13 tracks of 'Fantast' come together to create an album full of varied colours and atmospheric textures.

In music Claptone seeks not to create a world of secrecy, but one of great depth and intrigue. An enigma with a tireless desire for creativity and thirst for new music, Claptone has brought together a diverse group of collaborators such as Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Blaenavon, Tender, Jones, Zola Blood, Austra’s Katie Stelmanis, The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan as a Police Woman and Matt Simons.  

'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting.
