This is a little ditty I came up with in May 2023. The original plan was to make a song based on interjections like er, um, oh and so on, Then I decided to add other words to make it more interesting. The tune came to me as I was playing around with some chords. on the uke.

In this recording all the instrumental parts are played on the baritone ukulele.

Stuff and Nonsense

This is a song I wrote in September 2023 inspired by some of the silly phrases that come up in the Scottish Gaelic lessons on Duolingo. It's in the style of a waulking song, a type of song that was traditionally sung in Scotland while women were waulking tweed cloth. This involved pounding it on a table to shrink it and make it more watertight. Songs helped pass the time and gave a rhythm to the work.

This is a song in the style of a sea shanty that I came up with in May 2024 for no particularly reason.

This is a tune I wrote in April 2017, played on the harp, high and low whistle, piano, cavaquinho and ocarina. The ocarina makes the tweeting sounds at the end.

The title came to me after looking out of my kitchen window one day and seeing the hedge in my garden full of sparrows. I didn't mange to get a photo then, but this is a photo I took of sparrows, and blackbirds, in a bush on Bangor seafront.

I wrote this tune in 2015. It came to me while noddling around on the cavaquinho, and as it had a bell-like quality to it, I decided to use bells in the title. Hirael is the area of Bangor where I live. The photo is one I took of Hirael Bay and Porth Penrhyn.

This version is played on the cavaquinho, with multiple parts recorded separately.
