All my work is compiled in this playlist. It alternates between slow, ambient soundscapes dominated by synthesizer's arpeggios, and more energic electronica tracks. I use only hardware gear as sound sources (mostly analog). I sometimes blend in some classical instruments, such as acoustic piano, and guitars, as well as field recordings. Enjoy the listening!

Unknown territory: fear and hope mixed together.

This new song originated from the bass line (Korg MS20) and a field recording of my neighbourhood in Amsterdam (you can actually hear birds if your speakers are detailed enough). The main melody, introduced at 1:53 is a felted piano and an iced cold layer of eerie strings. The drum programming followed: I wanted a lot of "air" on the top end, with a precise and contained kick. The rest of the arrangement is made of many layers of synthesisers pads (Juno60, Prophet08), and Moog solo. I hope you will enjoy it :)

Simon Chauvin - Unknown Territory

This new track marks one year since I embarked on my production journey. Looking back, it's been a very rich year music wise, from building a home studio, to diving into the whole production process (from composition to sound design & arrangement to mixing & mastering), trying and failing many times, learning new techniques at the School of Audio Engineering, meeting new people in the music field... Looking forward to the next 12 months!

This track has a more techno vibe to it compared to my previous work. It is made with outboard gear only, featuring:
- Moog sub37 (bass)
- Elektron Analog Rytm (drums)
- DSI Prophet 08 (arp)
- DSI OB6 (chords and leads)
- Some field recordings

This song was initially a long ambient track based on the Korg MS20 synthesizer (playing the main arp). It then evolved into an electronic version with the addition of drums and other percussive elements. I used many layers of synthesisers, as well as field recordings, to achieve a very mystical atmosphere. I hope you like it :)

Simon Chauvin - SIGN

A special moment in the Beatles history: in 1966 John Lennon gave an interview for a British newspaper where he said that "the Beatles were more popular than Jesus", illustrating his idea that Christianity was shrinking, and would eventually die. This triggered a wave of indignation (the worst of it involved mass burning of Beatles records, and anonymous death threats) further amplified by the media. During the following months, in every interview Lennon gave, he had to answer multiple questions about "the incident".

This downtempo song features an extract of John Lennon speech in one of those press conferences, trying to bring the situation back to normal. It is made using a mix of analog synthesisers and acoustic instruments (Rhodes & electric guitar).
