After 2 years & being played by infamous names such as The Blessed Madonna, Horse Meat Disco, Tim Sweeney, Carista, Peach, Orpheu The Wizard, Ben UFO, Rune Lindbaek, Dicky Trisco, Double Dancer and the list goes on… Canto Club is back!

From party people with shoulder pads, big hair, white Rolls-Royces, panama hats, the Fragrant Harbour that is Hong Kong had a very unique Hotel / Clubbing scene before places like DD’s, Canton Disco and Hot Gossip opened their doors.

These Discotheques were a place of creativity, panache and mischief of the era. They were all destinations of desire.

For this edition, we have a special duo called Running Hot which is making waves on the web for digging obscure gems alongside our head honcho RFX. This compilation of 8 edits from the harbor.
We have lots of glitter in this one and the usual funky percussive grooves very unique to Cantonese music.

Big Bad Girls – Kolme Villikissaa (Galactic Mace sliced cheeze Dancemix)

In April 2022, I spent the whole month in Granada, in the very South of Spain, to prepare for upcoming cycling races in France. It was a memorable and introspective period, climbing up the mountain roads of Sierra Nevada on my own.

One day, I was looking for something to read and ended up in this old second-hand bookseller, who turned out to offer vinyls as well. I took some time to dig there, and on top of a nice copy of Beni Life’s only EP (including « Amor En El Cielo » beauty), I found this unusual maxi featuring remixes of « Asi Me Gusta A Mi » by Mallorcan singer Azuquita, which is itself a cover of Chimo Bayo’s 1991 techno hit, but in a euro house fashion and with a rumba flamenca twist.

When I first gave it a spin, I thought the track had all the elements to become a dance floor burner: housy keys and rhythm, heavy baseline leaning towards acid at some point, balearic guitar eruptions, catchy vocals, break with trancy chords.

It’s finally time to release this edit that was unfairly sleeping on my computer, after adjusting and re-mastering it a bit.
