In 2020 I had just gotten a new classical guitar, a Cordoba C5, and wanted to write a new song on it. I had recently heard the folk song "Shady Grove" for the first time and it greatly inspired this track.

In a town a looming building lies beside a creek. The path along the creek is used sparingly, a simple chain keeping vehicles from entering. A humid place overgrown, its future starting to be forgotten. But who remembers?

The opening is from the bass line my brother created for this song. Lyrics are a mash of high school, college, love, flaws, mistakes, desires, wishes, contentment, unfulfillment, rivalry, smells, cataclysm.

Never Faded Away

Probably the oldest song of the ones here. I wrote the intro/chorus back in 2013-2014 originally on bass and when that stalled, I later came back to it during the pandemic and added almost all of the rest of the song. As part of my "ashes of the day" song collection, it's about the early 20s feeling of casting about for your adulthood, or often flailing. Sometimes you find out later there were anchors of stability.
