What had once began as a small gathering of friends soon snowballed into something beyond the realms of their imagination. Through word of mouth people came from far and wide to experience these moments of euphoria themselves; the reputation of these clubs and DJs now preceded them. They had no idea this was a movement; that they were on the cusp of something influential that would go down in history.

With his debut release on Italo Moderni, Bristol-born, Berlin-based producer Antoni Maiovvi explores Bakalao: the popular dance scene in Valencia in the 80s and 90s. Drawing inspiration from this influential period for underground clubbing in Spain — "Movida Valenciana and its direct heir, the so-called ''Ruta Destroy'' — the four tracks on the release explore strains of Italo disco (unsurprisingly), minimal synth, electro and EBM, backed up by remixes from Jensen Interceptor, Cardopusher and WLDV.

Marking the end of a solid year for the duo, with their music being picked up by the likes of Paramida and Liquid Earth, Abdul Raeve release the first volume in their new 'The Archive' series. The 6-track EP contains some sought-after work, covering acid-infused groovers, tech house delights and progressive stompers.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 years since Throne of Blood Recordings began. Originally conceived as a platform to release vinyl singles from NYC legends The Rapture, the label has grown and evolved into a stalwart of leftfield electronic music and a launchpad for some massively influential artists including Daniel Avery and Bicep.

We’ve never needed an excuse to celebrate, but hitting this milestone has made us contemplate our place in the world, reflecting on the relationships that have made Throne of Blood such an integral part of our lives and our legacy as an incubator for tomorrow’s most remarkable artists. So we’ve put together a series of anniversary EPs that bring our past and future together on the dance floor.

The first of four releases, Anniversary EP #1 features longtime friend and label collaborator Chloe Thévenin of Parisian powerhouse Lumiere Noire Records, label manager Max Pask in collaboration with Tigersushi mainman Joakim (for the first time since their killer edit of Evan’s Pyramid for Cultures Of Soul), NYC techno mainstay and Bunker affiliate Justin Cudmore, and Liona, a wildly talented producer from Ulaanbaatar.

Four musical points of view with one goal in mind: making people dance. And there’s loads more to come…

Move D is a true legend in deep, house music. We own A LOT of his records. When we found the track 'Wanna Do' on the 50th Groove magazine cd full of exclusive tracks, we contacted him to ask if he would be interested in a vinyl release.
