01 Burn The Chains

This song has a history. It started as a song for a band I was in back in highgschool called "Maximum" (which later became "Primal"). It was one of the first songs we ever rehearsed as a garageband - in fact I, Simon Spencer, wrote the piece.

For a long time the guitar part was improved upon by my good friend Andrew Burdett who was our guitarist. In the summer of 2012 Andrew and his brother (then the band's drummer at the time) got some studio time and nailed out a pretty decent quality recording of the song.

A couple of months later the band split up and Andrew gave me the demo tape of what they had recorded that day. He added some of his own touches to the lyrics and the final and official copy of the lyrics we're printed later that year.

Jump to this summer, two years later: In the spirit of all I have released on SoundCloud this summer I thought that it was finally time to add my vocals to the final track, after I promised myself two years ago that I would do it, and give you one of the best songs I have ever written - whom I might add many musicians I know have said SHOULD be on the radio.
