Anjunadeep announces a brand new remix of Ben Böhmer’s ‘Revelation’ featuring PBSR, from rising star Barry Can’t Swim.

Ben Böhmer’s sophomore album ‘Begin Again’ was released in September 2021, and has now racked up over 30 million streams and two ‘Chillest Record’ picks on Sian Eleri’s BBC Radio 1 show. In addition, alongside the album, Ben has sold out a live world tour, including dates at London’s Roundhouse, Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, and San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall - twice!

Joshua Mainnie, aka Barry Can’t Swim, first burst onto the dance scene in 2020, and quickly received support from Annie Mac on her Friday night BBC Radio 1 show. From there, he went on to release on Shall Not Fade and Ninja Tune’s imprint Technicolour and remix for the likes of Bob Moses and Elderbrook.

His latest offering ‘Blackpool Boulevard’ gained the stamp of approval from both Pete Tong and Danny Howard, who picked the record as their ‘Essential New Tune’ and ‘Hottest Record’ respectively. His music has received praise from Clash Magazine, The Skinny and was recently described as ‘the kind of house music that makes summer more a state of mind than a season’ by Billboard in their piece ‘10 Dance Artists To Watch in 2022’.

Mainnie’s creative abilities are at their best in his remix of ‘Revelation’, as he reshapes PBSR’s vocals and reinvents the understated original into an exceptionally dynamic new offering.

Handpicked by curators Jody Wisternoff & James Grant, the Anjunadeep 13 Sampler hosts 6 highlights from the compilation, featuring Westseven & Ross Farren, Bantwanas, Oliver Wickham, Cornelius SA, Hessian and Simon Shackleton.

Following his debut on Ajnunandeep Explorations 06, Malaysian producer Westseven pairs up with Ross Farren in ‘Muse Of Mine’, the opening track on this year’s Sampler. 

South African collective Bantwanas return to the label with their track ‘Inthombi’, featuring vocals from Noni Jali. Following their Anjunadeep debut ‘Dignane’, the collective have been supported on BBC Radio 1, KCRW and Kiss FM. 

Next up is Canadian producer Oliver Wickham with his track ‘World Away’. Oliver first debuted on Anjunadeep with his collaborative cut ‘Dear Ben’ in 2020 and has since gone on to release his track ‘Indigo’ on the label in 2021. 

Based in South Africa, Cornelius marks a bold return to Anjunadeep with ‘Soaring, following his debut on Anjunadeep Explorations 18’. Leading with delicate melodies and perucsive laden grooves, Cornelius demonstrates why he’s released on labels including DAYS like NIGHTS and mau5trap.

Bristol based producer Hessian is next on the Sampler with his track ‘Rain’. Anchoring on pulsing strings and a warm bass, Hessian showcases his intricate sound design, utilising nature recordings in the build-up. 

Closing out the EP is a fresh remix of Simon Shackleton ‘Traumstaat’ from Jody and James. Leading with the original emotive string lead, the duo add soft synths and a rhythmic drumbeat to the track.

Jon Gurd returns to Anjunadeep with the announcement of his latest album ‘Phoenix’, out on April 8th.

‘Phoenix’ follows the release of Jon’s acclaimed album ‘Lion’, out summer 2020, which reached #3 on the iTunes Dance chart and gained support from tastemaker DJs including Solomun, Stephen Bodzin, Adriatique, Ida Engberg and Shadow Child. Whilst ‘Lion’ explored themes of loss ‘Phoenix’ takes inspiration from themes of rebirth, marking the start of a new chapter.

“Phoenix was written during the UK lockdown last year. When things at home got to a pretty low point I asked myself what is the most empowering thing I can do right now and the answer was to make a new album. I’ve always wanted to make an album called Phoenix. I like the idea of rebirth and coming back stronger after big challenges.”

A respected selector and producer, Jon came through the UK underground in the early 2000s as resident DJ at the legendary Slinky in Bournemouth, warming up for the likes of Mauro Picotto and Paul Van Dyk. His early productions were championed by Paul Woolford, Sasha, Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, and Sander Kleinenberg, and Jon soon found himself travelling the world performing alongside the artists he’d been opening for not long before.

Following the release of the first single ‘Emergence’, Jon Gurd now shares the second single ‘Open’ ahead of the album release. Leading with characteristic bold basslines and cascading melodies, Jon showcases his intricate production techniques reminiscent of Jon Hopkins, Jacques Green and Bonobo. 

“A lot of the album is about getting close to the bone of feeling, a lot like Lion was in a way, but this time trying to translate old subconscious memories into feeling. Memories of euphoria when I just started clubbing 20 years ago. The excitement of discovering and dancing to music for the first time. The feeling of connection on the dance floor with people you’ve never met before. The after parties, the whole thing.”

In celebration of the album release, Jon will be playing a headline show at Colours Hoxton, London on the 8th of April, following successful sets at London’s iconic venues Fabric and Printworks. 

‘Phoenix’ is the latest album to be released on Anjunadeep, described by Billboard as “one of dance music’s ultimate tastemaker labels”. The label is known for discovering talents like Lane 8, Dusky, Yotto, and Ben Böhmer.

GRAMMY-nominated producer, songwriter and engineer Steven Weston debuts on Anjunadeep with ‘Like I Used To’ featuring vocals from British singer-songwriter Låpsley.

Having made a name for himself by working on Rudimental’s third album 'Toast to Our Differences’ alongside Charlie XCX, Ladyhawke and Mikki Ekko; Steven Weston debuted in the dance music scene in 2021 and has already released on Sasha’s celebrated label Last Night On Earth. 

With hundreds of millions of streams to her name, singer-songwriter, producer and musician Låpsley has been one of the most relevant acts in the indie-electronica scene in the last years. OLAN (real name Luzana Flores) has announced that her debut album ‘Contra’ will be released June 10 via independent record label Anjunadeep. The announcement comes alongside the release of the powerful lead single ‘Wake And Return’, out now.

The Georgia state native has a colourful songwriting catalogue, including co-writing credits for ‘Buss It’ for Ari Lennox, collaborations with Mat Zo on his 2020 album ‘Illusion of Depth’, the single release of ‘In Motion’ with rising star Nourey, and ‘Push’, first released on Anjunadeep’s Reflections series. Now, OLAN emerges from the uncertainty of the pandemic with her debut album.

The culmination of many months in solitude, ‘Contra’ began as a natural form of escape and expression for OLAN, helping her find peace amidst the years of uncertainty brought on by the pandemic:

“‘Contra’ is an album I wrote as a way to find some peace with my life having no definitive purpose at the time. I often try to attach meaning to everything I encounter. I force myself to re-live memories. I’ll try to unpack them and see how I could change my reality if I had just been a better person.”

Musically, ‘Contra’ is inculcated with a variety of electronic styles from melodic house, breakbeat, downtempo and drum & bass, to ambient and hip-hop. Influenced by the likes of Maribou State, Little Dragon, T.E.E.D and Bonobo, as well as the cult video game ‘Outer Wilds’, the sound of ‘Contra’ is fluid and alluringly hard to pin down. OLAN’s penchant for textural soundscapes is showcased in atmospheric tracks such as ‘Push’ and ‘Submerge’ and the buoyant Balearic vibes of ‘Material’. Conversely, the jungle rhythms and acid basslines on ‘Promise To Keep’ and ‘Reckoning’ demonstrate how raw, energetic dance-inducing songwriting comes naturally to the Atlanta-based producer.

The aforementioned themes of self-awareness and self-acceptance are persistent throughout the album, realised in OLAN’s considered lyrics. Opening track ‘Submerge’ contemplates the cyclical nature of life’s lessons, exclaiming “there’s no limit to the depth that I can relive it all”. Other tracks such as 'Promise To Keep' and 'Ultraviolet' raise questions about fulfilment and where it comes from - "I'm asking more questions / Taking no secrets / But is there a message / When nothing is sacred?". Each song presented a cathartic moment for Lu, as she explains:

“Making this album was the first time I could be present the grief, loneliness, or isolation I felt when my expectations didn’t match my surroundings. It made me realize how much happier I am when I detach from stories or specific outcomes.”

A gifted and classically trained musician who learnt her craft between orchestra classes and worship bands, OLAN prominently incorporated her own live instrumentation and vocals whilst recording the album. Suitably, Flores will take ‘Contra’ on tour live this year, with performances at Beyond Wonderland, Ultra, The Gorge Weekender, and alongside Ben Böhmer on his North American tour.

As a queer woman of colour, OLAN is used to standing out, however, it is her capacity for all-encompassing production, dynamic songwriting, singing, and instrumentation that really sets her apart from her contemporaries.

Canadian producer Simon Doty returns to Anjunadeep with his EP ‘Living Sound’.

Since his debut on 2019’s Anjunadeep Explorations 11 with ‘Sama’, Simon Doty has put out five stand out EPs on the label, quickly becoming an Anjunadeep favourite. The Canadian producer has developed a reputation for delectable deep melodic house, garnering support from the likes of Phil Taggart, Danny Howard, Gorgon City, Cassian, Jax Jones and Lane 8.

Highlights from the label’s flagship compilation Anjunadeep 13, ‘Living Sound’ and ‘Tellin Me’ open the EP. Collaborating with techno DJ and producer Shelley Johannson, ‘Candy and Feels’ showcases Doty’s club influenced style that has seen him release on labels including Knee Deep In Sound, Einmusika, and This Never Happened.

Japanese DJ and producer Qrion is proud to announce the upcoming ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever (Remixed)’, a dazzling compilation of remixes of her tracks from her debut album. A truly international affair, the remix album features tracks from the likes of Germany’s C418, the talented composer and producer behind the Minecraft soundtrack, South Korea’s SOHMI and Moon Kyoo, France’s Boston Bun, and Australian producer Juno Mamba. Also featured are released remixes from the Netherland’s Jordin Post and the UK’s Dance System.

‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ has been championed by the likes of radio heavyweights such as Pete Tong, Danny Howard, and Jason Bentley, as well as tastemaker DJs like Diplo, Mall Grab, Porter Robinson, Lane 8, Anna Lunoe, Solomun, and Todd Edwards. 

Built on nostalgia and sentimentality, ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever' paid homage to Qrion’s memories of childhood and captured the feelings she felt when moving from her hometown of Sapporo to San Francisco to pursue a career in music. Speaking on the album, Qrion exclaimed “I connected with my old memories - the feelings of spending time with my Dad, the time I lived with my family in Japan, and the small but important moments of my life from my life in Sapporo.”

‘I Hope It Lasts Forever (Remixed)’ is the latest triumph in a career that’s seen Qrion release on Mad Decent, Last Night on Earth, and This Never Happened. More recently, Qrion has been named Spotify Japan’s EQUAL Artist of November, DJ Mag’s Future Star of 2021, and the resident artist for 88Rising Radio on SiriusXM, whilst garnering support from the likes of Mixmag, Attack Magazine, Forbes, and Triple J.

Anjunadeep warmly welcomes back Joseph Ray for the standalone release of his striking single  ‘Changing Lanes’.

First heard on flagship compilation Anjunadeep 13, ‘Changing Lanes’ stands out for its all-enveloping sound design, including a distinct cavernous bass line that has become characteristic of Ray’s solo work. Keeping to his penchant for journey-like compositions, Ray has included the eight-minute original mix on the single.

The single follows Ray’s 2021 collaborative album ‘Leave the Bones’, written and recorded with Haitian band Lakou Mizik. Celebrated by the likes of NPR, Pitchfork, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Worldwide FM, Billboard, and The Times, ‘Leave the Bones’ laid bare the rich musical culture of Haiti, and exhibited the beauty, hope and resilience of the island nation’s people. The album will see an adjoining feature-length film released later this year.

OLAN is set to release ‘Promise To Keep’, the driving second single from her recently announced debut album ‘Contra’, which lands June 10 via independent record label Anjunadeep. The single follows ‘Wake And Return’, which was supported by the likes of Icarus, Sultan + Shepard, Steven Weston, Jon Gurd, and Just Her.

An impactful mix of acid synths, hard-hitting drum breaks, and alluring vocals, ‘Promise To Keep’ seeks to capture the suspense and excitement of uncertainty. An expression of the trepidation associated with new relationships, ‘Promise To Keep’ was inspired by OLAN trying to make sense of "how one can connect to someone without trying to give anything too much meaning.”

The culmination of many months in solitude, ‘Contra’ began as a natural form of escape and expression for OLAN, helping her find peace amidst the years of uncertainty brought on by the pandemic:

“‘Contra’ is an album I wrote as a way to find some peace with my life having no definitive purpose at the time. I often try to attach meaning to everything I encounter. I force myself to re-live memories. I’ll try to unpack them and see how I could change my reality if I had just been a better person.”

Previously the Georgia state native has had a colourful songwriting catalogue, including co-writing credits for ‘Buss It’ for Ari Lennox, collaborations with Mat Zo on his 2020 album ‘Illusion of Depth’, the single release of ‘In Motion’ with rising star Nourey, and ‘Push’, first released on Anjunadeep’s Reflections series. Now, OLAN emerges from the uncertainty of the pandemic with her debut album.

Musically, ‘Contra’ is inculcated with a variety of electronic styles from melodic house, breakbeat, downtempo and drum & bass, to ambient and hip-hop. Influenced by the likes of Maribou State, Little Dragon, T.E.E.D and Bonobo, as well as the cult video game ‘Outer Wilds’, the sound of ‘Contra’ is fluid and alluringly hard to pin down. OLAN’s penchant for textural soundscapes is showcased in atmospheric tracks such as ‘Push’ and ‘Submerge’ and the buoyant Balearic vibes of ‘Material’. Conversely, the jungle rhythms and acid basslines on ‘Promise To Keep’ and ‘Reckoning’ demonstrate how raw, energetic dance-inducing songwriting comes naturally to the Atlanta-based producer.

As a queer woman of colour OLAN is used to standing out. However it is her capacity for all-encompassing production, dynamic songwriting, singing, and instrumentation that really sets her apart from her contemporaries.
