Due to a delay on my previous flight, I missed my connection from Amsterdam to Berlin. With only 10 minutes to spare, I ran like crazy to catch the only train route that would get me there before the gig: three trains, 7 hours. I left the hotel at 12 PM and arrived at Fusion at 4 AM.

After an hour of playing, a thunderstorm hit. Some left, some came into the DJ booth, and some still danced in the rain. The music never stopped.

Despite the exhausting journey, seeing true ravers in the rain cured all my tiredness and stress. It reminded me why I started this job. Thank you for this special moment, dancers and the universe. This memory will stay in my heart forever <3

Melbourne producer Harvey Sutherland returns with “Cigarette”, the third in his series of stripped-back dancefloor tracks from the prolific synthesizer enthusiast and club DJ. 

Cigarette is smokey, lo-fi machine funk, drawing a lineage between Sutherland’s earlier hardware jams like “Superego” and his enduring obsession with 00s-era minimal techno and microhouse from artists like Akufen, Luomo and Ricardo Villalobos. It bubbles and fizzes along, giving way to some moody synth melodies before falling back into its chopped-up rhythms.

DOTT is a Bangkok-based DJ, producer and co-founder of the More Rice collective, known for his forward-thinking approach to underground dance music. Blending deep house with minimal, his sets are a journey through tripping grooves, intricate emotions and genre-defying sounds. Whether it's warm and analogue or futuristic and sci-fi, DOTT’s focus on basslines and groove is unmistakable. Expect an eclectic, boundary-pushing experience that reflects his global rise from Bangkok’s scene to the international stage.

After cutting his teeth throwing parties across the English capital, he relocated to Melbourne, where his eclectic sets span House, Electro, Breaks and beyond — always with a splash of funk and a focus on feel-good energy.

Alfie has played at some of the city’s most respected underground venues and bars and recently launched Hapax, a party series spotlighting forward-thinking selectors. International sets across Southeast Asia have further shaped his sound and outlook.

Backed by a deep and diverse record collection and a sharp ear for the dancefloor, Alfie is well-positioned to make a lasting mark on Melbourne’s ever-evolving music scene.

Beyond the fabled chill-out room and into the field we go...

Joe Muggs has lived and breathed 'electronic music culture' for many, many years... like a lot of us probably for more than he'd care to imagine.  From journalist and observer to active participant and curator, beyond his celebrated writing career spanning publications like The Wire, FACT, The Guardian, and his co-authorship of  Bass, Mids, Tops: An Oral History of Soundsystem Culture. Muggs has built many bridges across the worlds of the electronic and handily, for us, ambient.

Experimental, ambient, and leftfield sounds to the fore, get horizontal. Something's feeling quite full circle here.

So it is with some excitement that Joe agreed to don his ambient trousers again and step up for part 4 of the Seeds mix. "Music to Smell the Jasmine Whilst Watching for Bats in the Twilight" encapsulates what is often a poetic approach to ambient curation - clearly less about the dancefloor and more about creating an experience that enhances the environment around you.
