Requiem Of Ruin

This one is for Revenants of Chaos, and will be played during one of the bonus stages. It was a real blast to make, and is probably one of my more advanced songs out there. I tried to make it feel like a racing song, a song that you would hear in a game like Mario Kart or something similar.

This one is for The Forgotten Gardens. Like the name implies, the long since overgrown gardens of the castle. Nature has completely taken over, with a lot of fiends and monsters of different kinds roaming the now open and untouched gardens. 

Wanted to make some fun stuff with this one, so some bongos, guitars and other fun things!

In the back of the big castle, there is a large and decrepit clock tower. It has since long been overgrown with flora, although some of the machinery is still, to this day, chugging along with a mechanical hum. It won't be easy to traverse this Clock Tower, not only because of the massive amounts of turning gears and pistons pushing things around, but also because of the quite alarming rate of ghosts, specters and ghouls roaming the once majestic tower.

Here is my latest tune. It is another song for Revenants of Chaos (altough we might not use this version of the song). This song will play in the level called Rambling Rock Ridge, a level tha takes place not only on a mountain ridge, but also inside the mountain itself.
Since the level is going to be rather varied, I tried to make sure the music was that aswell. I was aiming for a heavy jazz feel, but as song started to form I added tons of other stuff. Rock, orchestral, chiptunes and flamenco for example. Even so, I tried to make sure that it sounded rather gritty with heavy drums and basses. 

This song was very fun to create, I really got to experiment with tons of different instruments and styles, but also chord structures I've never really used before.

Rambling Rock Edge

A new short song!

Yeah, this one isn't really all too long. It will be used on the level select screen, the overworld map. Decided to upload it just to keep you guys in the loop. Conisder it somewhat of a filler song! :)
It is actually one my quickest songs that I have ever done. From the second I sat down by my piano to come up with something till I finished it, I spent about 4 hours working on it. Which is very quick compared to some of my other songs.
Even so, I am pretty happy with it. I like the way it turned out.

Level Select

For Requiem of Ruin. The track that plays when you enter the large study, filled with tomes of long since forgotten stories and spells. While the study was once a grand place with lots of students exploring it's vast library of knowledge, it has since fallen into disarray and is no longer used. What mysteries and horrors are hiding in the darker corners?

Requiem of Ruin - Derelict Study

The flaming depths of the castle where the weapons and arms of the demon army were forged was known for its spouting flames, lava running down the whole area in a long flaming gutter and metallic presses and anvils. However, something changed, and the area has since been transformed into a frozen and frigid hellscape. The frozen river of lava now sits silently, and only the worn anvils, long since broken and forgotten presses and hammers tell the tale of what this area was like, a long time ago.

Requiem of Ruin - Demonic Armory

Once a huge and glamorours parlor used for parties and gatherings, this parlor has since fallen into obscurity and partial ruin. While elements of its greatness still lingers, like expensive and colorful tapestries still hanging on the wall, and the chandelier still lighting up the room when the moon shines on it, a lot of it has long since fallen into dilapidation.

I tried to mix grace and beauty with more heavy guitars and drums, all while keeping it feeling like a battle theme. The result was a mix between symhponic, electronica and rock/metal. It was a blast to compose, and I am really happy with the final result. I hope you enjoy it aswell!

My track for the Music Weeklies challenge #MimicAGameOST. The goal is to take a soundtrack that already exists and make something that would fit into it! I decided to go with Mega Man X and used instruments from MMX and MMX2 to make something akin to a boss battle track! Made it my own style, but tried to keep some of the elements from MMX intact. It's been a while since the last song, sorry!

Now, this song is a heavy eletronical song. I don't do electronical songs often, so I decided to give it a try. While not my finest, it is still alright. 

The premise, and the inspiration for the name, is basically a wave/survival like scenario. Something like.. Think, maybe a Deux Ex or Matrix like world, where the hero needs to survive waves of bad guys. Sort of.

So, I've been playing the fantastic game Undertale the latest week or so. The soundtrack is amazing with really nice tracks like Bonetrousle, Megalovania and Spider Dance. I couldn't resist making a "remix" of atleast one of them, and the one I went with was Bonetrousle.

It was tons of fun to remix this one, there are tons of room for gimmicks and small but fun unusual things. I really wanted the second half of the song feel like an organised chaos of a tune, with tons of things happening but with the melody keeping it all together. I think it went pretty well!

I really enjoyed creating this one, it was a nice change of pace to sit down and create a remix. Enjoy!

So it took me like a month to do, but it was a really fun song to remix!

At first, I wanted to keep it very close to the original, not using any symphonic instruments and keeping the overall structure the same. But, after some discussion with my good friend David Ketikidis (https://soundcloud.com/senjan-1 ) I instead decided to go for a more symphonic approach, which sounded a lot better. Just couldn't get those synths right!

Also tried to make the song a bit emotional at times, as the time you actually hear this song in-game is a very emotional event, atleast when you think about what Sans is tring to do and why. So, I tried to reflect that in the song as well.

It's been a blast to compose, and while I have begun on Spider Dance as well, I might take a small brake before doing that one and actually compose something original first. We'll see. Thanks!

Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans (Undertale Remix)

Sorry for the long time between this song and the last one. Been busy!

This one is designed to be played on a stage taking place in an old and since long abandoned weather monitoring tower. A tower that is broken, filled with collapsed walls and floor. Nature has taken over since long, and old malfunctioning electronics are a big threat as they cause fires and other hazards. Mix that with the harsh wnd and rain, and you got a dangerous level filled with platforming challenges. 

I am currently working on several more song in this project, and I hope you'll enjoy this one!

Mega Man X9 - Monitoring Tower

This song would take be played in the stage taking place in an re-purposed arms factory. Expect a level containing lots of lava, fire, mechanical traps conveyor belts.

This one was a lot of fun to do, and I have several more MMX9 songs currently being composed. Expect more soon!

Mega Man X9 - Arms Factory

New track!

This track was composed for the "tech lab" stage. The boss in this stage is Techno Vulture.
The stage takes place, like the name implies, in a laboratory that specialises in modern tech and the progress of the digital world. Think like the Cyber Peacock stage in MMX4.
A stage that takes place in both the physical world and the digital, with a lot of traps and programs trying to stop your progress.

Mega Man X9 - Tech Lab

New song!

This song was created for the "normal" boss fights against the 8 Maverick fights. It was a lot of fun to compose, and I think it came out pretty well!

Next up, the "Sigma" stages!

Mega Man X9 - Boss Theme

This is the song that will be played on the first "fortress" stage, in this case, the first "Axl" stage. It is a remix of an old song that I wrote a two years back, but already back then I wrote it for a scenario like this.

This stage starts out with the player racing out from the city on a Ride Chaser. After a short ride inside the city, they will eventually reach the coast. A big part of the level will take part on and under the water, avoiding obstacles and killing enemies. 
After the long water race, the player will reach the cliffside where Lumine Uprising has their base. The players will then have to climb the cliffside, using walljumps and the platforms available. (Like the first Sigma stage in MMX)

Sorry for taking so long to get this one. Most of the other fortress songs are almost done or are being worked on, so expect more soon!

Mega Man X9 - Axl Stage 1

New song!

This is for the very first boss of the Axl Stages. A familiar enemy for people who've played other Mega Man games. It's a new version of the "Devil" enemies that has appeared in other games. A big blob of purplish goo, a monstrosity made of both biological and mechanical components. 

And since it is a Devil fight, I thought it would fit very well to do a remake of the classic Devil theme from Mega Man 1, with a bit of influence from the remake from MMX5.

Mega Man X9 - Parasite Devil

The tune for the second Axl Stage! This one is more calm and sligthly sad, as this is the stage where X and Zero start to realize what Axl actually has done to achieve his goals. Horrible actions, things that really can't be forgiven. They start to understand that they might not be able to save him. 

It is also during this stage that the parasite is starting to affect X and Zero as well, simply for being in the vicinity of it. Expect a couple of visual glitches and changes, based on the parasites influences.

Mega Man X9 - Axl Stage 2

New song! Took a little longer than expected, but here we are. 

So, before Axl Stage 2, X and Zero received a kinda cryptic voice call. Of course, the person on the other side was Dynamo. 

This song was a real blast to create, mostly because the Dynamo theme is kick ass, but also because remixes are always fun. Tried to keep it fun and carefree like the original, but also kinda serious at times, since everything surrounding the fight isn't as carefree as the character himself.

This one is for the first phase of the last boss of the game, Axl. The fight is divided into two phases, and this is the former phase. The phase where Axl is still very much corrupted, but with small glimmers here and there of his old self. 

Starting to reach the end of this project very soon. I have 3 more songs planned for it!

This is it, the final fight, the last stand. It took some time to create it, I restarted my progress 3 times during this song; I had some major troubles finding a general direction and a lead motif. But, I am happy with the final version!

Did this one just for fun; it is a tune I've wanted to do for years. Now, I consider the MMX9 project officially finished. I have several other fun projects on the way though, so stay tuned!

Another year, another sound reel. Pretty happy with this years tunes, a lot of good ones and I think I've learned quite a bit throughout the year. I'm going to take up my studies on music theory during next year, so hopefully I will be able to make even better music eventually. See you next year!

This song will be played during the final boss battle in the first area of the game.
I can't tell you who/what it is at this moment, you'll find out in due time!

I tried to make this one fast paced, heavy but also slightly gothic and dark. It was
a blast to compose, and I am pretty happy with the results. I just tried to make
it fit the overall mood that a boss fight has, but also make sure that it fit with the boss 
itself.

Area 1 Final Boss, Revenants of Chaos

First track for my new album, Requiem of Ruin! Inspired by Castlevania, the album will contain 14 or so songs all written based on an idea for a game I had.
This is the first one, made for the first part of the game, taking place in a long since abandoned village in the light of the moon. Some story:

The year is 1422 in what we know today as the United Kingdom. The Roguemont family has been the protectors of humanity for centuries, protecting humanity against all sort of evils. They were demon hunters, alchemists, inventors and many other things. At one point, the large Roguemont family had gigantic schools dedicated to teaching the art of monster slaying. But, that was many centuries ago. 

The land has been peaceful for many generations now, and the Roguemont family has slowly but steadily gone away from their monster slaying roots, instead taking up farming, husbandry and other forms of work. Then, after one night of a crimson full moon, demons and other monsters decimated a small fishing village on the south shore of the land. The youngest member of the family, Sofiya Roguemont, quickly decided to take to arms and follow in her familys old footsteps. With her family sword in hand, she hurried to the source of the monsters, Callborough Fort, on a quest to end the new threat.

Wanted to make it a bit dark, a bit melancholy, but also action packed and a "Let's do this!" feel!
