We’re excited to announce the first artist in our new podcast series: UK-born, Amsterdam based Kahru. His sound is a blend of stripped house with groovy and playful minimal. Known for spinning at renowned European establishments like Supermarket (Zürich), Nordstern (Basel), and Trädgården (Stockholm), he is also a regular at Amsterdam's Yellow House and Berlin's Golden Gate. DJ Masda is a seasoned selector renowned for his deep excursions in house and techno. Born and raised at the foot of Mount Fuji, his path has taken him out from the shadow of the sacred mountain, through Osaka, and placed him firmly in the nerve centre of European techno, Berlin. He made his first steps in the 90s, spinning expertly chosen vinyls and developing a keen ear for subtler details that quickly got him noticed. In the decades since, he’s been busy building a body of work that includes playing at some of the world’s most revered venues and running his very own label and club series Cabaret with So Inagawa. Under their imprint,  he’s primarily focused on giving a platform to friends, those with whom he shares a personal connection and whose music brings something fresh and fun to the label; this fraternity of musical souls are hard at work to bring the very best of the Cabaret sound to market. Here, Masda’s own signature mix is made manifest for Bassiani Podcast 199: a patiently crafted three-hour dive into eerie electro, bouncy house, even a peppering of Italo nostalgia, recorded live at Horoom’s season close last July. A perfect end to summer and a perfect start to a new year, an act that’ll be hard to follow.

Broken Techno/Electronica label Theoretical Rhythms is back with another vinyl release. This time it is a 4-track compilation EP called "Confessions". Featuring a carefully curated selection of tracks from diverse artists, "Confessions" takes you on a journey through emotions, melodies, and introspective narratives. Each track serves as a musical confession, laying bare the artists' innermost thoughts and experiences. The compilation opens with Varna's own Virtually J who masterfully sets the tone for the entire collection with his composition. From there, listeners are guided through a sonic landscape that seamlessly blends genres, showcasing the rich tapestry of musical expression. London duo Getae are showcasing their talent with the dance floor filler "Stumble" and Getsu opens the door to another dimension with his story "Otklonenie". With its minimal composition, broken beats and various effects Getsu invites us to divert from our path and experience another world. The EP concludes with Nickel Eye's "Lodi", a story that starts on a darker side with repetitive rhythm to transform to a jazz epos.

Description:
'WC Heritage' is the first output from the freshly hatched, Sanka, label by Gonno (a stalwart DJ and producer in Japan's contemporary Techno and House scene for well over two decades). This release compiles treasured retrospective tracks (originally released in 2000s) from Japan's "WC Recordings" - the label that released Gonno's debut album in 2005.
WC Recordings (who believed strongly in its “Japanese anarchy techno" stance), released numerous digital EPs and CD albums from 2004 - 2009 making this the first time any of this material is available on vinyl.
The LP features tracks from WC's owner, Salmon, who sadly passed away in 2011.  Also featured are Baiyon, the duo 'Side B,  Syuji Wada (aka DJ Wada, who started his career in the mid 1980s also known for being a member of Co-fusion), DSKE (one of the first Japanese DJs to play at Panorama Bar , Berlin), Gonno, as well as other remarkable talents who dedicated themselves to the Japan underground dance music scene in the 2000s. 
The nine unique tracks stand up strong in 2024 - all with an edge, 'glitcy-ness', and funny intensity.  These snapshots from this particular moment in time are a perfect way to begin understanding what was happening in the wild Japan underground dance music scene of the 2000s. A period of immense creativity which has never really been exposed to the outside world.
