Old Breaks Mixes Volume 5 is again about the early Nu Skool Breaks sounds from the late 90's to 2000's with lots of atmospheres and resampled amen breakbeats. Tunes from old favourites such as T-Power, Waveform and some early more solid tracks from Evil Nine and General Midi plus a bunch of others that have been lost in time.

3 QUESTIONS to DAVE SEAMAN:

Q: Did you count the number of countries where you were playing in? 

A: I had to write down every country once for a visa application so I literally went through every country in the world and ticked them off so I know it’s over 80. Never in my wildest dreams did I think DJing would bring such privilege when I started.  


Q: Your label Selador gets stronger each release. What are your future plans with it?

A: We’ve already got our schedule sorted through until Autumn so really it’s about managing that and starting to do some more label parties. We’ve just launched a website and done our first T shirts and vinyl. Iff we’re not careful we’ll end up being like a proper record label soon! ;-)


Q: You released on huge labels such as Suara, Noir Music, Hive Audio. What´s planned for this year?

A: I’ve done remixes for Marc Marzenit for Natura Sonoris and Glenn Morrison for his own Morrison Recordings which are both yet to come out plus a collaboration with Acumen for his album on Time Has Changed. And I’m currently working on a handful of new original productions. I’m not sure which home they’ll end up with yet. Watch this space.

"When Marc invited me to take part in his HOW I MET THE BASS series, where DJs and producers relate some of their early influences in dance music, I decided to bypass the halcyon days of acid house, which is ground I’ve covered many times before, and go even further back. This mix spans the mid 1980s and features some the anthems of my youth. From the electro of my breakdancing days to the proto-house of my early clubbing adventures and my obsession with the New York nightlife of the time, this is How I Met The Bass. Hope you like it."

So after watching my favourite TV series of 2016 – Stranger Things, I was inspired to make a Mixtape style mix of all the beats I’ve been listening to and digging this year.
This mix was a lot of fun to make as I collated all the tracks I wanted to put in it and started to mould them together in an interesting way.
This is definitely a listening journey designed to take you through a mixture of sounds and beats.

Enjoy this live recording of the Plump DJs (Grand Hotel Recordings) from the Space Cowboys' 13th annual Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco on New Year's Day. The Plumps were a surprise, unannounced addition to the line-up this year and to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd, they lit up the Funktion One stage as the sun was setting on yet another epic B.O.C. Plumps DJs are internationally renown UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, whose passion for innovation and non-conformist attitude to electronic music has fuelled their fire for over a decade. Their unmistakeable signature sound has earned them recent remix commissions from the likes of Deadmau5, Mark Ronson, Moby and Orbital while their four deck live show has lead to countless international tours and shows at London's lead music venues XOYO, Fabric and the Nest.  Self admitted suckers for bass and 'the groove' Gardner&Rous fuse Electro-House, Rave, Acid, Breakbeat and Techno into their own unique style they call 'Plump Music'. Plump DJs RIPEcast - Live from Breakfast of Champions 2013

Featurecast rose to fame in the early days of the genre Nu Funk and through the record label Goodgroove Records. His funky breaks music and DJ mixes were highly sort after at the time and Featurecast led the way into the newly formed Ghetto Funk Genre and record label. The Ghetto Funk movement had a huge following and still does to this day with it's wobbly bass lines over funky breakbeats. Featurecast has been a bit quite of late concentrating on sound design to basically make a living.
