The 2nd single from Michael Baker's forthcoming album ' How Come You Sleep'
Album - Due Out Feb 2021. 
‘Caught in the Crossfire’ is the 2nd single from the forthcoming (recorded in Lockdown) 3rd studio album and is FFO Gregory Alan Isakov, Sufjan Stevens and Devendra Banhart. This album was recorded during this lockdown period 2019 #ClassofAWAL/TGE supported artist Michael Baker has been in the same house as long time friend & Lucy Rose Multi-Instrumentalist and band member Andrew Stuart Buttle. They have used this period to write, record & produce a 10 track album, the Album is mixed by ‘Aldous Harding credited Oliver Baldwin and is the follow up to 8.9 out of 10 Atwood reviewed sophomore album ‘Salt’ which was only released in March this year, a testimony to how prolific Michael is an artist and songwriter and he has already been in to record album 4 with Luke Potashnick (Tom the Lion, Alberta Cross) due out early 2021

Michael says on this track;
‘’Sitting in lockdown thinking how can anything be so hard, so easy, so incredibly sad and so fucking beautiful.As with most of my songs I wrote it feeling sad and looking to the light. I sat up in bed just before sleeping and the whole thing came out in one go. The next day i recorded the whole thing down pretty much as you hear it on the record. For the piano part i wanted to take musicality out of it, so with my hands on the right notes i actually blindfolded myself and felt my way through the track.’’
 
‘’It’s about being caught up in it all obviously and about how one moment of kindness spreads like the roots of a tree… & that colour can change your view and make you look out differently. 
‘you can paint it red, i can paint it blue, these colours change the view.’ The album created is my favourite I’ve done so far & i cant wait to get it out into the world.’’

📖 About the song:
The song harks back to days of old and is about longing for simpler times. It was inspired by the love of our grandparents, whose eyes connected offline and away from the distractions of social media. We want this song to paint a picture of a slower life, where movies were black and white and interactions were authentic and real.

COMPANION is a duo made up of multi-instrumentalist and producer, Jamarl Billy and singer-songwriter Bethany Billy. Meeting in 2011 and getting married in 2014, the couple have been making music together since the inception of their relationship. COMPANION was created as an outlet for a diverse sound that combines cinematic pop influences with acoustic folk. Tender harmonies and electric chemistry epitomise this duo whose dynamic lyrics tell stories of excitement, betrayal, love and loss.

Jacob Noal is a folk singer/songwriter from Ohio who readily acknowledges his own brokenness, yet confidently hopes in the future. Jacob often writes about the familiar juxtaposition of failure and freedom, and the beautiful evolution of struggle to joy. He performs rootsy, acoustic-based, indie folk music to remind us that we're not in this struggle alone; redemption and peace is closer than we think!

Regarding "More Than Rubies," I wrote the song for my wife based on Proverbs 31:10-31, which begins, "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." It goes on to describe what a wife of noble character looks like, and I gotta say, my girl is nailing it! Like the song says, "one more splendid I have yet to see". I'm thankful for her everyday, and I hope you can share my joy and gratitude with this song!

My name is Simon Schlager. I'm the one hiding behind the name  "The Patch". I live in Styria, Austria. My music is written and recorded by me. I was 20 when writing "Pictures". I think I'm not the only one who suddenly felt kind of 'old' at that age. I was like "Man I'm an adult now, huh?!' I started thinking - remembering. "Pictures" is about these memories. - These Pichtures I found in my had. Some of them will always stay where they are - in my head. That's pretty much it. :)
