About a year ago, we were all sitting around wondering what ever happened to the jackin bassy house sound we were all fond of, and whining about the lack of fun but quality bassline music to smash at the rave. Well, AC Slater went and did something about it.

The title says it all on this new EP from Slates, a return to form from the producer who brought you “Jack Got Jacked,” “Take You” and “Banger." On Return of the Underground, Slater explores the punchy and wobbly bass sounds that he pioneered, pairing them with twists and turns and gunshots influenced by speed garage and those infectious classic UK bass anthems by Switch and Sinden.

This EP is four tracks of epic quality with not a sleeper in sight. The underground is back. Long live the underground.

MalLabel Music is bringing you some fresh Glitch-Hop vibes this week with full 6 track EP of squelchy basslines from Ashland, Oregon's NoWa. 

A West Coast Bass engineer and a connoisseur of my favourite mix of primary colors, NoWa has been rockin' the Pacific coastline for half a decade with his colorful blend of party favourites, remixes and original productions. Not afraid to bring it down a little or even a lot, he is known to drop all things beautiful into the heart of a dance floor at just the right moment and watch as the crowd melts into the feels. This of course before laying 'em out with some of that messy slop of squelchy bass madness the genre is known for. Purple is alive and well and the force is strong in this one. 

His new EP Purple G cycles all the vibes you'll need to keep the party hype to the wee hours and beyond. 'Bloom' Brings the vibe up right with some resonant guitar glitches and some fat bass playing in the stereo field as 'Feelz' distorts it's elements into a sprawling feedback stomper. 'Grinder' as you might imagine takes a few bass instruments through the machine to play while 'Knowa Purple G' chops a few up of it's own over layers of short manipulated breaths. 'Something's Brewing' adds a little funk to the mix with some saxophone before dropping the grime over vintage vocal stabs and finally 'Switched' twists up some percussive elements to ride the squish. Get some Purple back in your life.

So, after a few attempts of djing and painting in our dining room we decided to gut our garage, hang a few carpets and some sound proofing foam, put down some foam mats to stand on, set up some lighting and bam, we've got an online dj party that my wife paints some stunning artwork on canvases or whatever she's feeling at the time to paint!  At the end of the night, my wife will auction off the canvases and 50% of the proceeds goes towards The Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, rerf.us .  Join us every Tuesday and Saturday from 8-10pm PST on Facebook.  Either on my wife's page or on mine.
