Crash Comet 'Feeling' [High Tea Music]

It's not often you see someone rise up the label ranks this quickly, but if the production is as banging as THIR13EN's it's very much understandable. In less than one year, Kirill Popov went from starting his production journey as THIR13EN to releasing on some of the best Neurofunk labels in the scene, including ProtoCode, Kill Tomorrow and Subplate Recordings. Unsurprisingly, the Neuropunk team soon got interested in the Moscow-based producer's output, both for the infamous Neuropunk podcast a few months ago and soon after for the label itself, as part of the NEUROPUNK FORGE! Presenting: THIR13EN and his UNDER CONTROL EP!

Remember 5 years ago, when that pesky Covid pandemic disrupted our lives like nothing else that came before it? Who knows what would have happened without that one freak accident on Christmas Eve of 2022 at the Frostify ice factory that finally gave us the cure once and for all! Armed with that new medication, we as the human race could finally collectively tell the virus "You won't take my live UNDER CONTROL anymore". However, it still lingers on in our world. 

Once we got our normal lives back, the government ordered a group of scientists to continue experimenting on the virus. Officially, they wanted to improve our understanding of the genome so we could handle future outbreaks more effectively. In reality, they had more sinister plans. The scientists were pressured to keep developing stronger and stronger versions of the virus. With each iteration it became harder to keep the security measures up, so the lab was relocated into a nearby cave system, which is why they nicknamed the project "CAVID".

However, the scientists were right to be nervous. After a few weeks they were testing out a version of the virus far deadlier than ever before, nicknamed THE ONE. The In Vitro tests were successful, but in turning the virus more deadly they also unknowingly increased its transmissibility to the point where even the air carried a deadly viral load. In no time the virus spread all over the cave, infecting everyone working inside. In mere minutes the first people started dying, but the remaining few still managed to activate the cave's emergency airpump system so the virus would at least not be able to get out if someone tries to enter.

Every now and then, everyone from government officials to curious hikers try their luck and go into the cave, but no one has ever returned alive. We can only hope the security measures stay intact.

THIR13EN - The One

Danish label SUBHIVE is back with the cutting-edge, bass heavy compilation album; "Havoc". Featuring a packed selection of artists from the Drum & Bass, Dubstep, and Trap genres, this compilation showcases the finest of Danish (and a bit of Dutch and Austrian) rave-inspired bass madness.

O.V.'s "Legacy" is a grimey and dirty Trap rumbler featuring crushed sounds, distorted 808s and filthy bars. Kasger's "Backroom" is a deadly blend that mixes Drum & Bass and Hardstyle in a spicy cocktail, wrapped in techno style vocals and piercing rave stabs.

MELURAN's "Matte" showcases experimental and melodic elements of Hardwave mixed with Drum & Bass, featuring choppy vocals, punchy drums and tickling earcandy goodness. Redemptive's "Astral Djinn" takes listeners on a funky ride, combining punchy psy elements with clean Drum & Bass drums.

Collixion's "Lethal" is a face-melting banger with walls of distorted sounds, screeches and whatever else the guy brought back from hell. Cuut's "Rally" is a rolling Drum & Bass experience filled with crunchy sounds, teasing vocals and tense synths.

Akoda's "Never Leave" is an energetic Drum & Bass ride with an in your face lead melody and captivating vocals (oh, and you don't wanna miss that second drop!). "Alive" by 10xx leads you on with smooth vocals, followed by a wave of energetic dancefloor Drum & Bass filled to the brim with giant synths and fast paced drums.

Kila's "Predictable" delivers a dirty and choppy Drum & Bass ride combined with smooth vocals, while Delff's "Playin' With Ya" is a head-bobbing Trap tune with a wonky but yet catchy melody and beat. Vidya Vidya's "Let it Burn" is a classic Happy Hardcore banger with catchy vocals and uplifting melodies.

Finally, CELO's "Strength" offers a smooth and chill liquid vibe, perfect to round off the intense experience of "Havoc". With this diverse range of tracks, "Havoc" promises to be an exceptional compilation that showcases the unique sounds and styles of each featured artist.

Snapshots of our early days in Baron’s Court, when Tom Kelsey became our integral ‘Third Man’, helping us drive a fledgling business forwards. Then into the Purple Gates, where we have spent the past dozen years nurturing a growing team of staff and artists, building underground careers and international event strategies.

As one of the most versatile singer-songwriter-emcees the scene has produced, Youngman does a lot more than DnB. 2017, though, sees him prove his junglist credentials once again. He’s featured on huge tracks like Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s Steal My Heart and Wilkinson’s Hypnotic, played huge shows, and, now, he’s dropped another solo release on Technique. His reworked garage classic Sorry has already hit Spotify’s Viral Top 20 this year, and he’s back with the follow-up.

The Spinning project encompasses three versions of the song, created with Kai Smith, a songwriter who’s worked with a string of A-listers including P Money, Dirtyphonics and Example. This first taste, the Sunrise Mix, takes Youngman’s vocal and wraps it in smooth, sensual liquid. Delicately silky pads and strings set the scene, with just a subtle touch of percussion to give the song room to breathe.

Then, as the molten, enveloping heat of the bassline drops, and the rolling beats get the dance moving, that “I’m still spinning” riff gets inside your head and stays there. This is hands-in-the-air sing-along material that’s got summertime anthem written all over it. It’s undoubtedly going to be blasting out across raves, radio and festivals everywhere this year.

This is one of that rare breed, a truly vocal-led DnB project. And, with Fred V & Grafix on the buttons, this interpretation of the tune seems so complete that it’s hard to imagine how another producer is going to twist it. With two more versions to come though, there’s more Spinning where that came from.
