Rosalind and Touchstone

A piano composition I made using only the sheet music feature on Logic Express 9. I want it to represent a child falling asleep, going into REM and experiencing a dream turned nightmare.

Music is evolution.
From the Gregorian Chant, where music was only the voice, to the man-made sounds and artificial tones of the Electronic genre.

Music is variety.
From the voice, originally man's only way of conveying sound and melody, to the oscillation of frequency and amplitude with a theremin.

Music is controversy.
From the age where Mozart and Bach were scrutinized for their use of dissonance, to the age where Flux Pavillion and Nero are denounced because of the euphoric, chaotic nature of Dubstep.

Music is unity.
From uniting strangers under one flag, to uniting friends under one song.

Hi! I'm Kolby Jack! I'm 17 years old and live in Plainsboro, NJ. I'm aspiring to be a major in music composition. After college I plan on composing scores professionally for a video game company (yeah I'm really a big video game buff XD). 

What inspired me to enter the music composition area was actually The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Koji Kondo is an absolutely amazing composer of music able to make us reciprocate the amount of emotion that flows throughout his work. From the royal and peaceful Zelda's Lullaby in OoT, to the lamenting and beautiful Song of Healing from Majora's Mask, I was captivated by the simplicity of his work and the sounds that he could create. 

What inspired me to go after the whole electronic orchestral genre was the score in the Metal Gear Solid series which was composed by Harry Gregson-Williams. The ambience and combination of intense bassline sounds with a full orchestra fit the cinematic future stealth theme so perfectly, I was captivated on the spot! XD 

NERO's Dubstep Symphony also gives me some hope that one day orchestras and DJs/producers could collaborate one day. 
Thinking throughout history, music really has been the unifying factor in bring people together under one flag. My  goal is to contribute to the fellow composers and producers here on SoundCloud and further unite us all under one cloud.
