i was very depressed during the time i wrote this song and discovered the beat. i was going through an identity crisis in both not knowing who i was as an artist, who i was as a man, nor who i was to those in my personal and non personal life. my ego had finally been broken again, for one of the first times in a long time. music is all i've had for a long portion of my life and back in the early phases of quarantine i was stunted to make anything for a few months due to me breaking my equipment piece by piece. every time i got a new piece, i broke another one. my dad eventually let me use his old macbook that he'd been previously using for editing, and i finally had hope again. it was around the same time i'd also fallen out with my friend kaivyn who's house i was going to in routine over some stupid shit. i started using shrooms during around the middle of quarantine, and on my second trip at his house, i took about 7-8 shrooms (obviously underestimating the potency of them all) and GOD i swear i thought i was going to literally die. my brain was all over the place, and i discovered so many things about myself that i'd otherwise of not of known. that was the night i decided i wasn't gonna do any more hard drugs (not including marijuana or psychadelics), or at least try not to. i went to my gfs house and decided i'd stay sober because i was a little too scared i'd of damaged my brain or some shit. we eventually found out we had covid, and we stopped smoking weed for a few weeks. during this time, i got my jolly roger tattoo from some guy my girlfriend recommended me and dyed my hair back to black. i also made spaceship lullaby, and i was very sus about it b/c i couldn't tell if i liked the shit or not. i'd been so scared i'd damaged my brain from porn or drugs or something that i thought i somehow lost my ability to make music, when in reality, i was just really fucking depressed. i decided i needed another outlet, i needed a way to come back and show niggas i was still hard and legendary. i made fuck life get drunk, and i fucking hated it because the blue snowball i usually recorded on chopped down half of the quality and made it too distorted to enjoy on a day to day basis. i left it up though. it was the first hard song i'd made in months on my shitty snowball that made me at least feel a little joy. i still hate this damn song because of how poorly it's mixed due to my shitty equipment at the time, but i love it at the same time. maybe i'll remaster it with my new equipment and it'll be way better, but until then, who knows lol. i use this song now in my life as a milestone to remember the triumphs that i faced in my upbringing, and to always remember the dark place i came from a few months ago that made me believe i'd never bounce back into my normal and rad self, or ever enjoy life again without being suicidal or feeling like i was losing my mind. if only you guys knew everything... anything is possible man. take this song as a sign.
