2013 marks a decade of Y-3 and its pioneering sport-style aesthetic—a look that continues to meld the avant-garde genius of Yohji Yamamoto with the breakthrough innovation of adidas. adidas is pleased to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Y-3 with a compilation album in collaboration with Alex Prat aka Alex from Tokyo (Tokyo Black Star, World Famous NYC) and 14 innovative electronic music producers, with CD and vinyl sets specially packaged with artwork by PL Studio.

Y-3 presaged the contemporary obsession with designer athletic wear by being the first to blur the boundaries of style and sport. The music on this compilation achieves a similar balance, bringing together dance music icons as well as fresh faces from the world of underground house and disco.

The esteemed contributors include Frank Wiedemann, one half of acclaimed duo Âme and co-founder of Berlin-based label Innervisions. Eccentric and reclusive maven Maurice Fulton makes a rare appearance, along with legendarily diverse New York DJ Joaquin "Joe" Claussell of the famed Body & Soul parties as well as Chicago house pioneer Larry Heard. Rub-N-Tug are a boisterous New York duo, and here they slot next to Jules Etienne's collaboration with disco purist Daniel Wang, founder of Balihu Records
Other artists on the compilation include Blackjoy, responsible for Parisian sci-fi disco, prolific Japanese producer Kaoru Inoue aka Chari Chari, Irish house heavyweight Mano Le tough, and Jiro Amimoto, who has produced the music at previous Y-3 runway shows. Discodromo, who heads up one of Berlin's top gay alternative parties Cocktail D'Amore, collaborates here with Italian Massimiliano Pagliara, a longtime resident at Frankfurt's Robert Johnson nightclub. Alex from Tokyo pulls double-duty, contributing a track from his and Isao Kumano's Tokyo Black Star project as well as mixing the CD version of the release. Rounding out the mix is anonymous Scottish producer Lord of the Isles and Quiet Village, featuring Matt "Radio Slave" Edwards.

The Y-3 compilation will be released in mid-September via the Y-3 website, retail stores, and social media outlets. The compilation will be available on CD with the tracks both mixed continuously or unmixed, along with 500 special-edition vinyl box sets and free digital downloads.

For the 30th release of Infinite Depth, no one less than Brian Cid (@briancid) makes his debut on the label. The American bred and Berlin based producer has a very impressive discography and shows his darker side through this ‘Rise To The Fifth’ EP. The collection includes three storytelling originals with terrestrial atmospheres, guiding you to an unknown dimension.

The EP starts off with ‘Alma De Monte’, which means mountain soul. Around the organic kick and percussion, spacious elements are taking shape. Throughout the track these elements are generating a rising tension, which gets strengthened by a screaming sound of the mountain’s soul. 

The next stop towards the unknown dimension is ‘Mar Adentro’. The intergalactic, but still organic atmosphere gives you the feeling of being surrounded by a world bigger than ours. The earthy sawing synth in combination with the trippy higher details, makes you keep your feet on the ground, but brings your head into that mysterious and infinite world.

‘Rise To The Fifth’ gives you that extra push into the unrevealed fifth dimension. A dimension which a human mind is not capable of imagining. The stronger lower part of the track and celestial aspects are creating this journey toward the fifth. When arrived an unidentifiable sound welcomes you.

The inimitable Bottom Forty label signs up Alvee for two new singles that come with remixes by Kitschy Kitsch, Ali X x Ximena and JT Almon. Antonio Alvarez aka Alvee is a producer from Torreón, Mexico who has previously released on Controlla as well as remixes for Tronik Youth, Bad Wolf and Ali X & Ximena. Here he presents two songs that are born from synthesised analog sounds with dark atmospheres made directly for the dance floor. 

Opener 'Soy' is all about the club, with a progressive bass line stacked with rhythm and a screaming synth that builds tension throughout. The excellent 'Sombra' carries a predominant and percussive bass with a mysterious melody that transcends you to a new world with a spaced-out atmosphere that is utterly absorbing.  

Nein Records associate Kitschy Kitsch remixes 'Soy' and goes for a dark and shady version that prowls in an urban wasteland with cosmic melodies and stark hits making for a jerking rhythm. New York-based JT Almon from labels like IAMSIAM then offers a 'Sombra' remix that is pure rave energy, with stone lit synths and big hits that make a real impact. 

Ali X x Ximena put out their own ‘Welcome to My World’ EP on Bottom Forty in 2018 now make a welcome return with their take on 'Sombra'. It's a twisted techno track with a brilliantly warped bassline that will make any dancer cut loose.  Alvee ‘Tu, Yo’ drops on Bottom Forty Records on 9th April 2020.
