Hypnotic sounds and dark atmospheres surround this 2nd EP on @Controlla by Mexican producer,dj  & resident of Deck in Toluca - Jorge Melgar A.k.a. @Bad-Wolf1.

@Ricardo-Ruben, closes  the EP with a remix of the title track perfectly focusing on the voices which transport you into other worlds.  His sound synthesized in a mixture between the experimental and intensity of rock orchestrated with virtual instruments and analogs such as the Pulser Synth Drum and the TB03.

‘Escape From Kyoto’ opens the release, incorporating worldly percussion, a staggering arpeggiated bass hook and trippy lo-fi sonic tones creating a raw energetic movement. Subtle filter-modulation on the atmospheric elements make for a vacillating flow throughout the composition, while 80’s style synthesizers are worked in to the break giving off an effortlessly cool retro vibe. The vintage feel is further brought to fruition by working back in the rugged arp-line in combination with a vocoded spoken-word, further fuelling the old school aesthetic.

The second volume of Nein’s “Techno But Not Techno” compilation brings “only” sixteen tracks – all new and unreleased gems. Combined, they constitute an essential music journey into the dark eve, the time in which all the creatures of the night get together to celebrate their passion for the obscurity. Featuring a dream team of collaborators, such as label boss Tronik Youth (SXDNS050) plus Kincaid, Back From The Wave, Man2.0 (SXDNS081), From Beyond, Stockholm Syndrome (SXDNS165), Parissior, and Disco Morato (SXDNS147), just to name a few, the release has been extremely well received amid the Dark Disco/Indie Dance community.

Stockholm Syndrome’s contribution showcases the downtempo side of the Melbourne-based duo. “Confined The Mind” establishes its story depicting decaying synth riffs, menacing speech fragments and a funky bassline. Yes, it is Techno but not Techno, but it is also Disco but not Disco. The groove is intense, and it is that kind of tune that enriches any release.

@CaliBurton is an experienced musician from Argentina, releases his solo material through the Mexican label @vnnmx . "Vortice" is a mix of electronic music and the influences of the alternative projects (Chalalora, Serebrios and Ruda) of Cali, in which you can listen to music made for the dance floor with overtones of Rock, Funk and of course his voice so particular.

The original tracks are accompanied for remixes made by Tivi, Umvral and Guillermo Castillo, which do the same by capturing their style on each track.

Correspondant return with another cosmic tonic to combat these strange and turbulent times. Four slices of smouldering, sexy, groove-toned deep disco, perfect for any lockdown or socially distanced scenario you can possibly imagine, they come courtesy of Tel Aviv's Niv Ast who's been making a name for himself in all the right places; Nein, Duro, Ombra, Relish and of course this very label with two big cameos last year remixing Fort Romeau and appearing on the 'Nume'ro 2' collection. This is his debut EP for Correspondent and arguably his biggest EP to date; 'I Remember' sets the hazy, introspective mood with purring spoken word and salubrious instrumentation before 'Ninja's Mothership' goes all-out psychedelic with sweeping guitar blasts and a slinky, writhing groove. Deeper again we hit pure uncut funk in the form of 'Hyperball Superball' before 'Poisson d'Argent' brings home the silver... A hook-up with good friend Cornelius Doctor, and easily the heaviest piece of the release, it's a chugging cosmic finale laced with layers of textures and sounds to completely lose yourself within. Strange, turbulent, smouldering, sexy; this is the perfect music to stay safe to... Correspondence is key right now. Let us know how you feel.

Poisson D'Argent

We have the pleasure of premiering one of the tracks from the debut release of the 3 Fantasmas, the bizarre side of producers Luciano Carestia (aka Lucare/SXDNS175) and Mariano Cirone, two Argentinians lost in the beautiful city of Oaxaca, Mexico. The project is the result of a number of rehearsals and experimentations with new sounds, navigating amidst beer, coconuts and random repetitions.

“Espíritu Maya Mi”, the first EP of the duo, is the result of a year or so of collaborations after the reunion of the two hermanos. They began promoting parties in Oaxaca with the intention of exploring the nightlife of their new and enigmatic home. And influenced by their new surroundings, the 3F emerged as a proposal that invites you to dance freely and without prejudice. With a peculiar aesthetic and a lot of ironic humour, hints of madness, colours, cumbia, and plenty of synthesizers, the project is devoted to bringing some spicy chaos during their live-set bashes. 

"Cumbia Vil", the track we chose to review, summarizes the real essence of the project. Despite its downtempo/Balearic mood, the intensity of the theme is mammoth, and the intended weirdness is there. The eerie FXs, the offbeat percussion and the whimsical lyrics (pasted below so that you can sing along, by the way) give you the big picture of the soul meant by the lads.
