Rugged electronic disco label Blindetonation welcomes a new producer to the fray for their fifth EP. That man is the fast rising Alejandro Molinari, a Venezuelan producer, singer, guitar player and DJ from Caracas who serves up six scintillating tracks of fine machine music.

Molinari uses analog and acoustic devices to create his fully formed sounds and integrates lo-fi samples of songs, speeches, interviews, field recordings and films too giving them a conceptual and cultural edge. With a passion for blending the synthetic and the organic, he has already impressed on Onerpm and does so again here.

Excellent opener ‘Break the Bricks’ is five minutes of corrugated synths, undulating rubber bass and carefully uttered male vocals that lend a human touch to the abstract sounds all around. ‘StereoMatches’ is slower and more trippy, with freewheeling synths riding up and down the scales whilst slap funk drums bring the infectious groove below.

‘Peso Muerto’ is deeper and more stripped back, with elastic drums and meandering sine waves making for a rather haunted and excellent atmosphere, then ‘Human Machine’ layers up fat drums and plodding bass stabs with twinkling keys and dehumanised vocals that make for a brilliantly robotic groove. ‘Machine Experience’ is then back to direct dance floor action with driven kicks, cosmic energy and prickly percussion making you sit up and take note before this well formed EP closes with the expertly menacing and industrial disco darkness of ‘Thanda.’

This is robust and inventive stuff that will jerk dance floors in to action and very much continues Blindetonation’s fine run of form.

The latest installment on Roam Recordings features NOZZ aka Damon Jee aka Jérôme Da Silva. Most known as Damon Jee for his widely acclaimed remixes, Jérôme has been branching out with outstanding originals under his NOZZ alias. In his Misfits EP for Roam NOZZ delivers two excellent new productions. The title track is a cool rock infused guitar laden stunner with class and attitude while Hippy Home is a dreamer of a tune perfect for greeting the sun or losing yourself in a closed eyed dance session. The Misfits EP comes with two top remixes from The Emperor Machine and Autarkic. The first remix is a tour de force performance with a sound that is unmistakably The Emperor Machine - intricate, dubbed out, lasers, and superb production. Autarkic’s version of Hippy Home adds an eclectic edge to the EP with a cacophony of orchestral and quirky sounds that somehow perfectly keep inline with the stripped down feel of this remix. 

The Misfits EP brings together three artists at the top of their game and is a fine addition to the ever growing Roam Recordings catalog.

PRÈMIÉRE: NOZZ - Hippy Home (Autarkic Remix) [Roam Recordings]

Following the critically acclaimed release of Golden Bug’s V.I.C.T.O.R. album last year, La Belle Records tap into some of their favourite contemporary artists and ask them for remixes. Il Est Vilaine, Red Axes, Destino, Thomass Jackson, Danny Daze, Strapontin and more all serve up sizzling results in return. The original album was a vital and broad affair which touched on everything from adult disco to psyche-funk, abstract atmospheres to slow-fi techno. It was another highlight in the Paris man’s esteemed discography.

Glasgow producer and Optimo trax artist MR TC, who also runs the Night of the Jaguar parties and has released on this label before, then gets spooky and unsettling on his dark and broody re-rub of ‘Un Paradis Artificiel’ feat. Julienne Dessagne.

This is a fantastic package that marries together electronic music, dub, freaky synth work and post punk guitars into eleven menacing and meaningful tracks.

The ninth excellent EP on Blindetonation comes from Columbian pair Juan RMS & Technicalissues with fresh remixes from Curses and Aurum Miles. 

Juan RMS & Technicalissues have been making music together since 2013. Exploring the regions where minimal, house and dub meet and creating exciting new forms as they go, the pair now run their own Lay Down The Groove label. Here they show off their combined skills with a slick new single. 

The brilliantly gritty ‘Indulgencias’ is a chugging track with dumpy drums and wiry, sinewy synths wrapping round the groove. A dark whispered vocal adds libidinousness as it rolls on, grows in intensity and mesmerises you as it goes. 

The first remix comes from Curses, the dark and romantic moniker from New York City native Luca Venezia who mixes up shades of Italo, electronic music and rock and roll. This essential version is more percussive, with slapping hits and tin pot rattles all underpinned with stabbed bass and spaced out synths. 

The remixes are completed  by Lithuania producer Aurum Miles, an artist who plays guitar, keyboards, drums and synths and makes electronic music infused with elements of rock. He was part of short live pair BlowEnder and now solo once more flips the track into a perfectly menacing and snaking tune with low slung bass and inhuman sound effects. 

This is a terrific trio of visceral disco cuts that are stuffed with masterfully designed details.

Berlin based Curses has been very busy lately. His psychedelic approach to dance music has been known to encompass the sounds of Rock, New Wave, Italo, EBM, Electro and all sorts of other weirdness to create a winning combination that has been receiving love on dance-floors all over Europe. 

After pulling yet another rabbit out of his hat with a fresh EP on team favourite Bordello A Parigi, a release which followed several remixes on all kinds of wicked labels already this year, for his next trick Curses steps up to the Viscera wheels of steel. 

Luca’s keen musical ear and skill as a selector is immediately apparent, as he seamlessly weaves track after track together to create a genreless blend of electronic and non-electronic instrumentation, a delicious cocktail of countless flavours.

Delete is the second one, a track with an uncontainable force. A thrusting bass and a huge snare of explosive reverb that slaps on either side of your cheek, make an overwhelming base that will not go unnoticed by anyone. It is when the voices comes in a macabre tone saying "We are not the trouble, we delete. We are the solution, we delete ", that with a nihilistic meaning seems to be a current generational song which creates a retro futuristic dystopian atmosphere with a sound that crosses between the EBM, the electro and the dark disco with acid touches.

Finally finishing my album and sending it out into this wild and wicked world.

Launching the ‘Romantic Fiction’ live show. First one will be Nov 10 at Opium club for BAD HABITS in Vilnius.

Roam Recordings welcomes Barcelona artist Undo back to the fold with his superbly crafted and moving Bird Without Wings EP. The title track is a thoughtful and provocative work of blissful electronics complimented by the slightly darker 80s influenced Espacio Sideral.

The EP is backed by two excellent remixes from Roam alumni Curses and Rigopolar. After his huge remix of Tronik Youth's Tunnel of Hate Rigopolar returns to give Bird Without Wings a mesmerizing shoe gazing remix perfect for melting into outer space. Rounding out the EP is the always impeccable Curses who mixes rock, 80s, and XTC into a heavy and beautiful take on Espacio Sideral.
