Augsburg graphic designer. Augsburg producer. Augsburg wonder boy David Kochs delivers a new hypnotic disco-esque approach for Mufti's track As If, which keeps up the success story of Hungarian label Secret Fusion. Once again the aspiring Augsburg artist underlines his ability of arranging a seductive piece of music which combines synthy music with a disco dance floor note. Provided with a lush bass line David Kochs sets the foundation of a smashing take that sways between several (musical) influences and preferences without sounding arbitrary but rather eclectic as circling and wobbling synths flatter the disco hook and almost Acid-sounding chords until climaxing in a profound break before returning to the previously introduced loop and keeping up an immense groove throughout the track.

Mufti's Another Day EP will be released on Secret Fusion on June 1st, 2020.

Syrian born and raised duo Boshoco land on Sinchi with a new track that samples the first-ever Arabic Sesame Street, and comes with remixes by Damon Jee and Shubostar.

Once again this is a non-profit release, this time raising money for Syrian NGO Jusoor, which is made up of Syrian expatriates who build bridges between the boundless potential of young Syrians and their opportunities for education, entrepreneurship and global community engagement.

Boshoco's sound is playful, energetic and dark, and recalls nostalgic elements we all have in common. They grew up getting music on bootlegged cassettes and CDs from local musicians in Aleppo and met whilst working in a camp for people displaced from their homes. Together they moved to Turkey and became residents in Temple club in Istanbul and now, given the restrictions of movement on Syrians, they had to split, with half of the pair getting political asylum in France and the other moving to Beirut and continuing to work remotely.

Say the pair of the track, "'Semsem' (like the name Boshoco, a cheap ice cream we both used to eat in Aleppo as children), with the children singing, the heavy baseline, the mystical mezmar solo and the energetic beat, is an homage to the little pretty things that made life sweet in Aleppo and to the heavier emotions that came to it with time." It is a darkly intoxicating tune with a meandering bassline and plenty of exotic instrumentals that transport you to another world.

Barcelona-based imprint Vondreib Records readies the long overdue second release, Transonàmbul,  from Catalan producer and Hivern Discs regular Priorat. The four tracker is provided with two original takes, namely Sonàmbul and Transgènic, coming with a remix for each take. While  Sonàmbul is taken care of by Velmonda, it's Hivern Discs mainstay Marc Piñol who gets his hands on the already dance floor oriented Transgènic and – without being too anticipatory – delivers a remix that is so subtle charming its listeners that one would not realize how deeply you are soaked into Piñol's continuous psychedelic musical cosmos until the track lets go. With Acid-ish bleeps taking the lead and intriguing pan-flute like synths as well as 'water dropping from the stalagmites of a limestone cave'-sounds all alternating throughout the track, Transgènic's organic and natural vibe flatters the dark dance floor in the most humble yet decently sophisticated manner and let's you imagine yourself moving to the bass line in the spheres of cosmic grandeur with closed eyes. 

Priorat's EP Transonàmbul will be released on Vondreib Records on July 13th, 2020.

Exclusive: Rubini - Man From The Sea

Venice-Berlin artist Rubini is back with his altogether 6th release on Degustibus, the label which he runs with long time companion Batongo Ditongo, and finally kicks off a remarkably year – in any imaginary way – for the label, for music, for the scene. With the Barbaric Tracks-series the artist, according to himself, leaves his musical comfort zone and combines House music with Folk- and World influences to chivalrously create memorable stories. However, the first EP in the series contains three tracks, Man From The Sea, Silluminami and Jakataqq, who tell the story of a woman wanting to marry a man, who lives in the ocean. The man then comes up from the sea, proposes to the maiden and then the both sink back into the waves, into the sea. With Man From The Sea, not only being the A1 but the intro to the aforementioned story, Rubini created a piece that goes beyond his House music influences and combines more than just Folk- and World music influences but comes in with a lush almost HipHop-ish bass line that, as announced, and enriched with vocals and several pads as well as a short saxophone intermezzo, providing the track and the sea even more deepness. 

Rubini's EP Barbaric Tracks 1 will be released on  Degustibus on July 17th, 2020.

Austrian label Freeride Millenium does not only ready its first ever compilation, namely Freeride Millenium presents Queer Base, but donates all profits from the release to Queer Base. The latter is a newly founded charity project from Vienna, which offers social and legal counseling to LGBTQI + refugees and among others providees help with court cases, finding housing, community events, organising German lessons or HIV/STI testing. For further information please do check the organisations website (queerbase.at). 

For the compilation Freeride Millenium gathered electronic music scene's mainstays like Massimiliano Pagliara, Zombies in Miami, Younger Than Me, Soulphiction, Hard Ton, Rotciv, Modular Project, Benjamin Fröhlich and many more serve up a scintillating selection of house, synth, techno, disco and downbeat, and all profits from this release will be directed to Queer Base.

The mid-section of this collection takes in soft rock tinged balearic disco, bubbling house and then stripped back and perfectly atmospheric disco-tech from Zombies in Miami & Joseeph with 'Walking Home.'

Belfast based dj & producer Steve Boyd aka Cyence has been playing and promoting events in his hometown for the past three decades. This truly versatile dj is finally making headway as a producer, presenting a timeless merge of Italo disco, indie and electronica.
